Former Co-Developer Of Subway Surfers Shutting Down, Facing Total Layoffs

Kiloo Games, the former co-developer of Subway Surfers, is laying off all employees and shutting down according to a LinkedIn post.

The post reads:

"12 years later the journey with Kiloo ends as all employees have been served with a notice about termination by the end of the month. It's hard to find words on a day like today but there is something that keeps returning to me. Thank you. Thank you to all my colleagues for the experiences we have shared. Thank you to my team of great designers (both prior and current). Thank you to all the players that enjoyed our games. Thank you to Kiloo for all the learnings"

Kiloo's most recent title was 2022's Metroland- Endless Runner, and that will now be their final game for the 100-person studio. The studio was founded in 2000 and has developed games for LEGO, Worms, and more, all in the mobile market.

Subway Surfers is one of the most popular mobile games of all time, with over 1 billion downloads in early 2018 alone. By December 2019 downloads had crossed 2.7 billion downloads, and it was the most downloaded mobile game of the decade from 2012 to 2019. Since its launch, it has generated $155 million in lifetime revenue, making it one of the more profitable mobile titles.
