The Last of Us 2 was widely marketed as a revenge story filled with violence that would shake the player to their core. However, many have found a little guitar mini-game to be the best part of the game.

Without spoiling story details, Ellie gets her hands on a guitar at some point during the game, something that was teased in the first trailer shown during PSX all the way back in 2016.

At several spots in The Last of Us 2 (some that could be entirely missed), players get prompted to a mini-game in which they have to hit certain notes, ending up with characters performing specific songs ranging from rock classics to iconic 80s pop tracks.

The little side distraction turned out to have a level of depth no one would have predicted, with fans sharing their creativity online, trying to spread some positivity amid serious issues plaguing the launch of the game that included false allegations of Naughty Dog vice president Neil Druckmann doing the mocap for a sex scene. One user that goes by Jessarae, for instance, replicated the initial tune for Gary Jules' Mad World.

YouTube user Traxus12Games uploaded his cover of alt-rock anthem Where Is My Mind by The Pixies, a song released in 1988 that gained notoriety years later as part of the Fight Club soundtrack.

Gaming channel VG247 compiled a list of some of the best user-created tracks, featuring songs like Californication by the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Black Hole Sun by Soundgarden, Creep by Radiohead, Seven Nation Army by The White Stripes, and many more. Take a look below.

Twitter user ThaDavincii took it to a whole other level. By sampling a small piece of Ellie's guitar, he crafted an entire song by mixing it with vocals, synth sounds, and a heavy bass to top it all off.
