Persona 4 Arena Ultimax to be re-released for SEA players

Atlus and Arc System Works will be re-releasing Persona 4 Arena Ultimax exclusively to PlayStation 4 consoles for the Southeast Asia region in 2022. Re-releasing more than eight years following its initial release for Japanese arcades, the story of Persona 4 Arena Ultimax is a sequel in the story and gameplay of Persona 4.

The game was announced globally in December 2021 as part of Persona's 25th Anniversary Year campaign; however, the re-release will debut more announcements and events as part of the festivities.

Here's what we know so far about Persona 4 Arena Ultimax's Southeast Asian relaunch, including release date, story and more.

When will Persona 4 Arena Ultimax be released?

According to the official Persona 4 Arena Ultimax website and the PlayStation Blog, the game will release on 17th March 2022, with a trailer now available online.

However, unlike its global release, the game will only be available for PlayStation 4 consoles.

What's the story of Persona 4 Arena Ultimax?

Serving as the spin-off game from the mainline Persona series, Arena Ultimax occurs sometime after Persona 4.

Following a mysterious red-coloured fog blanket over the town of Inaba, the Persona 4 Investigation unit join forces with a group of Special Operatives from Persona 3 to inquire about the hidden truth into the P1-Grand Prix.

The game will branch into two parallel narratives, one for each cast of characters, as we get a perspective on the series of events through various characters.

Both stories culminate in the meeting of both casts of characters and the rescue mission to save the captured Shadow Operatives atop a mysterious tower. 

What will be included in Persona 4 Arena Ultimax re-release?

Persona 4 Arena Ultimax will only have a standard edition available to its SEA players on the same website mentioned above. This edition will include the base version of the game and all previously released content, including the game's duel story campaigns for the characters from Persona 3 and 4, respectively.

While the SEA region will receive a separate release of Persona 4 Arena Ultimax, the developers have not revealed any pre-order details at this time.
