After many thought the game was set to be named Skate 4, EA Sports has revealed that it will simply be titled, Skate (like the first game in the series). Follow along here with our breakdown if you're interested in the upcoming Skate release date, platforms, cross-play information, and much more.
EA Sports Skate Release Date
In a recent reveal stream hosted by EA Sports, fans were given an 18-minute overview of Skate and everything to expect. To the surprise of many, the game developers explained that Skate (2022) is the start of it's own series, rather than a continuation of the previous Skate titles.

- Best F1 22 Fast Start - How to get off to a fast start
- All F1 22 Tracks and Locations
- F1 22 PC Specs - Minimum, Recommended, and File Size
Unfortunately, EA Sports was still unable to provide a release date for Skate. But they did ensure that the title will release for players to enjoy as soon as it's ready. The plans also remain in place for a beta test in which players will be able to try out the new game ahead of its official release.
Skate Free-To-Play And Platforms
In somewhat of a surprise reveal from the stream, Skate will be a free-to-play title when it releases as the game developers seem intent on keeping the title available to a wide range of players.
EA Sports also revealed the platforms which Skate will be available on when it releases:
- PlayStation 4
- PlayStation 5
- Xbox One
- Xbox Series X|S
Skate (2022) Will Be Crossplay
Another surprise which certainly delighted many viewers, Skate will feature cross-play ability when it goes live. Between free-to-play and cross-play status, this title should be absolutely packed with gamers and should result in awesome online interactions.
