Sony has announced Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection and Journey will be available to download for free on PlayStation 4 starting this week.

The promotion is part of a new Play At Home initiative from the company, designed to encourage players to stay indoors and keep people entertained during the coronavirus pandemic.

Both the Uncharted collection and Journey will be available to download from midnight BST Thursday 16th April, with the promotion ending on Wednesday 6th May at midnight BST.

Once you download them, they’ll be yours to keep forever too - so you can always return to them in the months to come.

If you’re unfamiliar, the Uncharted collection contains the original trilogy of games in Drake’s Fortune, Among Thieves and Drake’s Deception.

Uncharted 4 is also available for free on PS Plus this month, so you can effectively download the entire Nathan Drake saga for free.

Journey is a PS3 title originally released in 2012, which was met with heaps of critical praise and became one of Sony’s defining indie titles.

The new Play At Home initiative will also see PlayStation give $10 million to support independent game studios who “may be experiencing financial difficulties” during the pandemic.

In a PlayStation blog post, Jim Ryan, president and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, said: “During these days of physical distancing, fans have turned to gaming for moments of respite and enjoyment.

“At Sony Interactive Entertainment, we are privileged to bring this much-needed entertainment. We know this is just one small step and we are thankful to be able to offer this support to our players, our communities, and our partners.”
