The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is one of the most anticipated games for 2023. The Legend of Zelda series is extremely popular around the world and Tears of the Kingdom is a direct sequel to the highly successful The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild game. Because of that, many players around the world are excited about the release of the game.
To help fuel that excitement, Nintendo has recently released a gameplay trailer for the game. During this trailer, many gameplay aspects were shown off as how they work. One of the gameplay features for this game that were shown off was the Ascend power. Here, we will discuss the Ascend power and how it functions in Tears of the Kingdom.

What Is The Ascend Power In Tears Of The Kingdom?
In Breath of the Wild, players had multiple ways they could manipulate the environment that was around them. For example, players could use the Stasis ability to stop time and build momentum on items that were frozen. The Ascend power seems to be an extension of the powers that players had in Breath of the Wild.
Ascend allows Link, the main character, to rise and pass through the ceilings that are above him. Doing so will make Link appear on the surface that is above the ceiling. Players will have to aim the Ascend ability on the ceiling above and activate it and Link will automatically rise through the surface.
What Is The Main Use For The Ascend Power In Tears Of The Kingdom?
From what we have seen in the trailers so far, the Ascend power is primarily going to be used as a way to travel in Tears of the Kingdom. From what we have seen, Link can pass through a simple roof or even through an entire hill with the Ascend ability. This will make traveling a lot faster in Tears of the Kingdom.
That is because normally, Link would have to scale up to reach the top of the hill or mountain. But with the Ascend ability, so long as there is a cave, Link can simply pass through the mountain or hill and be at the top a lot faster. Nintendo did mention that there will be some restrictions to the Ascend ability but they did emphasize that nearly all ceilings can be passed through with this power.
