How To Use Duplication Glitch In Zelda Tears of the Kingdom

Here's how the duplication glitch works in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
How To Use Duplication Glitch In Zelda Tears of the Kingdom

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is a supermassive game that is absolutely filled to the brim with resources that players will need. Whether you want these resources to upgrade your items or to sell and have more rupees, farming items can be often a pain. That is why players are always on the lookout for duplication glitches.

Duplication glitches are pretty common to find in video games and the Zelda franchise is no exception. Breath of the Wild players had discovered a technique to duplicate materials long ago, and it seems that a similar exploit has made its way to this newest installment of the game. On this page, we are going to go over how to do the duplication glitch in Tears of the Kingdom.

How Do You Duplicate Items In Tears Of The Kingdom?

Attempting to duplicate items in a game means that you have to perform a very specific set of steps to make it work. If you want to duplicate any materials or weapons in Tears of the Kingdom, you will want to use the throw duplicate glitch. This works on the 1.1.2 patch of Tears of the Kingdom. Below are the instructions for how the glitch works:

  1. Save the game
  2. Fuse your desired item that you want to duplicate and fuse it to a weapon
  3. Have Link prepare to throw the weapon
  4. While holding the weapon ready to throw, press the minus button
  5. Go to the Adventure Log and go to the memories
  6. Select a memory to watch
  7. Skip the memory by pressing X and then the plus button
  8. Repeat this 3 times for a total of 4 memories watched (can all be the same memory)
  9. Press the plus button and go to the save screen.
  10. Load the save file you made at the start
  11. The weapon should still be in your inventory and you should see a copy of it on the ground.

Every time you watch a memory, the game advances a single frame. It takes four frames for Link to throw a weapon. When you load the game back up, the weapon should be in your inventory and it should also be on the ground. If you want to check if you did it right before reloading the game, you can check on step 9. Before you load the game, you can scroll over to your weapon inventory and see the weapon is not there but Link looks like he is still holding it. If you see the item missing in your inventory, you are ready to load the game and duplicate the item. Please note that this method works best with one-handed weapons.

There is also a second duplication glitch that you can do. From the looks of it, this glitch mainly focuses on using Links House (that you need to buy) and using the shield/weapon mount in it. You will need to shock yourself with a shock emitter while trying to mount your weapon at the same time. You will drop your weapon and mount it on the wall which will duplicate the item. This one is a bit more of a skill check so be prepared to fail a few times.

Did They Patch Out Any Other Duplication Glitches?

Although Tears of the Kingdom is a single-player game, there are still glitches that kind of break the game a little bit. Because of that Nintendo is on the lookout and will patch out glitches that they feel will break the game. Below is a list of duplication glitches that worked in the past. You can try them out now, but it is very unlikely that they will work.

Tears of the Kingdom 1.0.0 and 1.1.1 Glitch
  1. Equip any bow.
  2. Add the material you need to duplicate on your bow.
  3. Pause the game.
  4. Drop the bow you were using.
  5. Unpause the game and then pause again at a lightning-fast speed.
  6. Drop another bow from your inventory.
  7. Unpause and pick up both bows.
  8. Check your inventory for additional material of that type.

That's everything you need to know about the duplication glitch in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
