In a survival game like 7 Days to Die, you'll need food as one of the most important resources when you're getting started and all throughout your run. Food isn't always easy to find out in the wilderness, though, so you'll have to think outside of the box to get enough to keep yourself satisfied. Here's how to get food in 7 Days to Die to keep your hunger low and keep yourself alive.

You'll need to change your strategies to gather food in 7 Days to Die over time, since you'll need to be able to get it more consistently as time goes on. To start, you can try looting any areas you find; you should be able to find some basic food to get you started off. You can also purchase food from vending machines if you find them. (Make sure you don't try to mine them, since this will kill you almost instantly!)

While this is a great way to get started, this won't keep you satiated for long, and buying food from vending machines can get expensive. You'll need to change your approach eventually. The next step to getting consistent food is to build a farm.

Once you've got some food to keep you satisfied while you work, you can work on starting your farm. Starting a farm is a great way to consistently get food in 7 Days to Die, and something that almost every player should endeavor to do early on. Some types of farms are more efficient than others; it's best to farm corn and potatoes for the most consistent and hearty harvest. You can use these ingredients in lots of recipes, making them very versatile crop choices.

Another way to get food in 7 Days to Die is to hunt wildlife. After killing wildlife, you can cook it to eat it. While not as reliable as farming, meat is filling, so you should be sure to hunt wildlife for meat when possible. In fact, combined with corn and potatoes, meat is an ingredient for one of the best food items in the game.
