The Elder Scrolls Online (ESO) upcoming update, Update 40, is currently available for players on the Public Test Server (PTS) to engage with the upcoming content and balance changes. This update is first coming to PC in October 2023 and then on consoles in November 2023, which they’ll have access to a new PvE activity, the Endless Archive.

Under the guidance of Master Malkhest, a new character appears within the Endless Archive who has a mysterious reason for his arrival at the archives. If you want to find Master Malkhest or clear the Endless Archive, we’ve explained where to find this activity in The Elder Scrolls Online.

Where To Find The Endless Archive In The Elder Scrolls Online?

As mentioned before, the Endless Archive is the latest PvE activity that will arrive in The Elder Scrolls Online (ESO): Necrom chapter. This PvE activity sees players engage in combat by defeating waves of randomized enemies and bosses as they explore the inner chambers of the Daedric Prince's most secret archives.

Players can tackle the Endless Archive solo, with a companion, or bring along a friend to join them in their exploration of Mora's archives. Once inside, players are to seek out portals called the Portals to the Unknown, where they complete their challenges, be rewarded handsomely, and prepare for the upcoming enemy waves or boss encounters.

As such, locating the Endless Archive has many players concerned about whether it will be locked behind a paid expansion or update. The game's developer confirmed that the Endless Archive is included with Update 40 for free and will be featured in the base game as such.

There are two ways to access the Endless Archive, with the first using the fast travel system and traveling directly to the Endless Archive from the map from their current location. The second way is to locate its physical entrance, which can be found in Apocrypha if you own the Necrom chapter, which is reportedly in the vicinity of the Runemaster's Acropolis, so the Speiran Tarn Wayshrine is the closest travel point.

If you're doing the Endless Archive for the first time, meet with the new character, Master Malkhest, inside to collect and complete his quests. This will be essential for those looking to earn additional Archival Fortunes after completion of these quests within the Endless Archive.

Complete the quests and activities within the Endless Archive to earn an exclusive currency, the Archival Fortunes, with a Merchant to be found at the Index Chamber. Additionally, players with an ESO Plus subscription will receive a 10% bonus on Archival Fortunes earned, which can be valuable when acquiring items from Filer Tezurs, including the Filer's Mora Deck Fragment for the Hermaeus Mora Patron deck.

The Elder Scrolls Online is available for the PlayStation 4|5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Mac, PC via Epic Games Store and Steam and Xbox Game Pass. Players can install the game launcher detailed in this guide as Update 40 releases for Mac and PC on 30th October 2023.
