Nintendo To Address Pokemon Scarlet & Violet's Performance Issues

Nintendo says they take player feedback "seriously" and are working on fixing Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's performance issues.
Nintendo To Address Pokemon Scarlet & Violet's Performance Issues

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are the latest open-world RPG entries to the long-standing Pokemon game franchise. Unfortunately, while the games' initial announcement by publisher Nintendo was met with high hopes, fans' excitement quickly dissipated following a botched launch characterized by a seemingly endless string of bugs and technical issues.

On 1 December 2022, Nintendo of America released a software update for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet (version 1.1.0) to address performance issues in response to backlash from fans. In a Twitter post, the publisher wrote, "We take the feedback from players seriously and will continue to work on improvements to the games."

Accordingly, the latest Pokemon Scarlet and Violet version 1.1.0 patch will release alongside Season 1 of Ranked Battles. Among the apparent fixes was an issue "that caused the music to not play correctly during the battles with the Elite Four and the Top Champion in the Victory Road path" and "other select bug fixes," albeit non-specific.

"We are aware that players may encounter issues that affect the games' performance. Our goal is always to give players a positive experience with our games, and we apologize for the inconvenience. We take the feedback from players seriously and are working on improvements to the games," Nintendo concluded.

While Pokemon Scarlet and Violet feature no shortage of bugs (see this NSFW Wiglett bug as an example), it's worth noting that both titles are very much still playable. More specifically, the games have been praised for their compelling storyline and roster of new-gen Pokemon. That said, it's great to hear that Nintendo will continue releasing updates to address the technical issues, reaffirming our initial take on post-launch glitches being mere teething issues.
