Wild Rift patch 2.6: Kayle and Morgana debut, Ranked System changes, new skins, URF mode, and more

It's been quite a couple of months since the last big update for League of Legends: Wild Rift, as its patch 2.5 brought the debut of new champions from Piltover, along with an entire event based on the premiere of League’s animated series, Arcane.

Now, it’s time to set the path for a new cycle in Wild Rift, as patch 2.6 is set to arrive in just a few days, together with tons of new skins, a fan-favourite game mode, two new champions, and many rewards waiting for the best-ranked players.

Wild Rift patch 2.6: Kayle and Morgana

Thanks to a special preview by the Wild Rift development team, we have now seen the first details about the debut of more champions in the following updates, starting with the arrival of both Kayle, the Righteous, and Morgana, the Fallen.

Starting with Kayle, she was born to a Targonian Aspect at the height of the Rune Wars, as she honoured her mother's legacy by fighting for justice on wings of divine flame. Meanwhile, conflicted between her celestial and mortal natures, Morgana bound her wings to embrace humanity and inflicts her pain and bitterness upon the dishonest and the corrupt.

Prior to the current events, both twin sisters were the protectors of Demacia for many years, until Kayle became disillusioned with the repeated failings of mortals, and abandoned this realm altogether. Still, legends are told of her punishing the unjust with her fiery swords, and many hope that she will one day return.

Players will be able to learn more about these two sisters and join one of her sides, with the new limited-time event Path of Justice.

In this event, everyone will have the chance to get either Kayle or Morgana for free, along with some cosmetics and poses, depending on the side you join.

Wild Rift patch 2.6: Big update for Dr Mundo

The arrival of the sisters of Demacia isn’t the only big feature coming with this patch, as the Madman of Zaun will receive the game’s first VGU after its release on the PC version.

Dr Mundo’s VGU will change both his skins and visual aspect, giving him a more human (but still clever) look and also some update of his skills, making him a bigger threat for everyone who stands in front of this intellectual monster.

This massive update for the utterly mad, tragically homicidal, and horrifyingly purple being will be released along with Kayle and Morgana this December.

Four powerful items join the grid

To bring a little organized chaos to the Rift, four new items will be added to the game, designed to protect you from pesky crowd control.

First, the Banshee’s Veil is a magic resist item made for mages who need a way to survive against other spellcasters. By wielding this and after a brief period out of combat, you will get a spell shield to absorb the next ability that hits you, including any CC effects.

Secondly, the Edge of Night is an armour penetration item for assassins, perfect for champs that need to get up close and personal to delete enemies. Its spell shield protects against one magic damage attack, so you can use this to defend against stuns, knock-ups, and anything else that gets in your way.

There is also the Hextech Megadrive, an item that reduces the cooldown of other item effects when you heal or shield your allies, or when you immobilize your enemies.

Lastly and for all junglers, there is the new Ixtali Seedjar, an artifact that gives HP and ability haste, and also, when you or an ally hit a nearby plant, these will drop some seeds you can pick and replant to reap its rewards after three seconds.

Wild Rift patch 2.6: Ranked System changes and more rewards

As the Ranked Season 4 is set to start in just five days, patch 2.6 will bring a big change to the Champ Select, as from now on, each team will have five bans (one for each player) so everyone will have a chance to get rid of a must-ban pick.

There is also big news coming for the Ranked rewards, as Riot will upgrade the ones you can get by adding extra choices to collect, giving players the opportunity to obtain more based on their performances.

With the new Season Reward system, all players will have access to a new Battle Pass with which you will get Season Points for the Ranked games you play, while also tracking your individual performance to earn more points and rewards if you play at your best.

In addition, every weekend you’ll enter a limited-time window with a bonus for your progression on the Season Rewards track, if you win your games.

One of the rewards available through this system will be the exclusive Glorious skin, which this time will be available for the powerful Lady of Clockwork, Orianna. However, this skin won’t be the only one available, as Riot has introduced a new type of currency to the game, the Ranked Coins.

After you finish any Ranked game, along with the rewards of the Season Reward system, you will also obtain Ranked Coins. These coins can be exchanged in a new special store for either comebacks, trails, emotes, poses, and most importantly, Glorious skins from past seasons.

In the Ranked Season 4, players will have the chance to unlock the Glorious Tryndamere skin from Season 1, while in Season 5 for next year, this will be the same for Season 2’s Glorious Jinx skin.

Wild Rift patch 2.6: New skins available

Talking about rewards and skins, Riot has announced the next Wild Pass will feature Hexplorer Shyvana as its level 50 reward.

Its prices will be the same as from the beginning, but this is not the only skin added to the game, as the following will also be available in the in-game store.

  • Crystal Rose Lux (Legendary)

  • Crystal Rose Jarvan IV

Wild Rift patch 2.6: URF is finally coming!

Last but not least, League’s most beloved game mode is finally making its debut into Riot’s mobile game, as Ultra Rapid Fire or URF will be available for this holiday season.

For those who don’t know, URF is a special mode where players can enjoy unlimited mana, and greatly reduced cooldowns to spam their abilities at all times.

URF will come with a limited-time event as well, in which you can get some juicy rewards based on everyone’s favourite manatee.
