Apex Legends Season 8 released on 2nd February 2021, unleashing a new Legend called Fuse, changes to King's Canyon, a brand-new Battle Pass and more. If you are already excited for Apex Legends Season 9 to start, we've got you covered with a release date, a possible new Legend, a leaked weapon and more.

Apex Legends Season 9 release date

Apex Legends Season 9, dubbed "Legacy" will release on 4th May at 10 am PT / 6 pm BST.

The new season will introduce Valkyrie, as well as a new Battle Pass, as well as potential new game modes with previous hints (more on that below) and a nod to "predators and prey" within the trailer's description, and a "new way to play the game" in the trailer itself, all point to a new game mode coming to the title.

Apex Legends Season 9 - Enter Valkyrie

As with every new season of Apex Legends, we can expect a new Legend in Season 9 and we now know that to be Valkyrie.

Debuted in a cinematic trailer titled Stories from the Outlands - Northstar, Valkyrie will arrive as part of Season 9 beginning on 4th May. Interestingly, Valkyrie is the daughter of Viper — an antagonist in Titanfall 2 who ripped off BT’s left arm before he died.

Valkyrie abilities

  • VTOL Jets (passive) - hold jump to initiate VTOL Jets, hovers in the air
  • Cluster Missile (tactical) - fire a rocket that explodes multiple times
  • Skyward (ultimate) - Press once to prepare for launch. Teammates can interact with Valk to join the launch. Press again to launch into the air and skydive.

Apex Legends Season 9 content & team deathmatch

No exact content for Apex Legends Season 9 has been confirmed just yet. However, in an interview with IGN, the game director of Apex Legends, Chad Grenier, did tease some major things.

Chad Grenier explained: "There’s so much good stuff coming… Season 9, you’re going to see some major things you did not expect… our best work is yet to be released."

A new mode could be 3v3 Deathmatch in King's Canyon, as known Apex Legends leaker and dataminer, Shrugtal, found information about the possible new content.

According to Shrugtal, this could be a 3v3 TDM-style mode, where teams spawn on two different locations, with four different loadouts to work with. In the centre, there could be one airdrop, with a medical supply spawn to the North.

In a two-year anniversary blog post, Chad Grenier also teased possible new game modes, stating: "later this year, we’ll launch new ways to play the game that take us beyond battle royale."

New Apex Legends weapon?

During an Apex Legends Season 8 developer livestream, fans spotted a possible new weapon. This looks quite a lot like an Assault Rifle with a bullpup design.

Check out the image of the possible new Apex Legends weapon for Season 9 below, hanging on a weapon rack.

Interestingly, the 30-30 Repeater rifle released with Season 8 was first teased in a Season 6 developer stream. Further, we've only seen one new Assault Rifle (Havoc) released for Apex Legends since it's launch.

So there you have it, everything we know so far about Apex Legends Season 9. While most of the content comes from speculation and leaks, you can definitely mark your calendar for the release date.

We will keep you updated once we know more about Apex Legends Season 9.
