Every Field Upgrade in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War

Field Upgrades are back in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War but they act a little differently than they did in Modern Warfare.
Every Field Upgrade in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War

In last year's Modern Warfare, Field Upgrades were one of the most controversial aspects. Essentially equipment that charge over time, these gameplay items saw a ton of use in-game. Although, with Field Upgrades like Dead Silence and the Trophy System, most of the choices weren’t used that much. However, with Black Ops Cold War, the selections are a little more balanced and have a much lower effect on gameplay.

The Field Upgrades in Black Ops Cold War work the same as they do in Modern Warfare. You pick one in each loadout, wait for it to charge over time, press the back bumpers at the same time to activate, and reap the rewards of whatever upgrade you chose. Of course, in order to have the most success, you need to know every choice that’s available to you.

In total, there are six Field Upgrades currently in the game. Each has a unique niche that can be applied to different areas of gameplay. Over time, we could see this list grow with new seasons of content but for right now, there are our options.

All in all, each Field Upgrade is usable in its own way. However, if we were to pick, the Field Mic and SAM Turret are by far the most useful. The Field Mic is essentially the Portabel Radar from Modern Warfare 3, allowing you to see any enemy that passes through the mic’s range. As long as you place it in a hidden spot, you can control a portion of the map.

As for the SAM Turret, the amount of Spy Planes and Attack Helicopters in the air make this Field Upgrade worth it. With the new scorestreak system, players are calling in more lower-tier streaks than ever so you want a way to shoot those down, which the SAM Turret provides.
