How to complete the Defenses Down raid challenge in Destiny 2

Raid challenges are an opportunity to earn extra loot in Destiny 2, with the first one requiring an intense amount of coordination.
How to complete the Defenses Down raid challenge in Destiny 2

Bungie keeps adding tons of content for experience Destiny 2 players to tackle, with raid challenges finally making their debut in the Vow of the Disciple six-man activity. Raid challenges are extra tasks that are optional when it comes to completing the activity itself, but give extra gear for those dedicated Guardians that decide to tackle them.

Furthermore, if you want to get the raid Seal, you'll have to overcome these rotating challenges. The first one is on the Exhibition encounter of the Vow of Disciple raid, an already tough section that will require an extra amount of coordination.

The challenge requires each person on the fireteam to kill a single Disciple Hourglass (the Taken Knights) that appears during the encounter. There are a total of seven Knights, so that means your fireteam must walk past a single one without killing it.

You'll need to coordinate with your team on how to transfer the Seed to take down their shields effectively, as well as call out beforehand which Taken Knight will be kept alive.

Reddit user Tasty Toxic Waste shared the following graphic which fireteams can follow to coordinate the Seed transfer. You can try to do the challenge with a single Seed carrier, but it will certainly be more difficult to complete in such a fashion. For the most simple approach, follow the table below closely and you'll have some awesome rewards in no time.

It might look like a complete headache, but the extra rewards will be absolutely worth it. The raid is home to some of the most interesting weapons in The Witch Queen expansion including the Lubrae's Ruin Glaive, Deliverance Fusion Rifle, Forbereance Grenade Launcher, and more.

It's also the only way to get the Collective Obligation Exotic Pulse Rifle. A gun the vast majority of the community is yet to get their hands on. We'll keep you in the loop with any new tweaks to the Defenses Down challenge in Destiny 2 should Bungie add any late surprises.
