The D.F.A Hand Cannon is making a return after being sunset over two years ago, with Destiny 2 players itching to try it again.

Refreshing the weapon loot pool is a key component of each new season in Destiny 2, with Bungie looking to freshen the experience for both new and returning players.

As Season of the Risen is reaching its conclusion, Bungie is slowly but surely showcasing some of the new weapons players will be able to grind once season 17 starts. There is no shortage of ways to get gear in Destiny 2, with ritual weapons and Nightfall being some of the most desirable.

Bungie already revealed which weapons will be moved out of the Nightfall rotation for upcoming seasons. And now, they gave fans a glimpse into the new loot they'll be able to farm, including the return of the D.F.A Hand Cannon.

The D.F.A HC has been absent for a couple of years from the game, as it was sunsetted a few seasons ago, meaning that it had a Power Level cap well below what was required for high-end PvE and PvP activities.

Now that it's making a return, you better not miss your chance to get your hands on one. Here's how to get the D.F.A Hand Cannon in Destiny 2.

To get the D.F.A Hand Cannon, you'll need to complete Nightfall activities on any difficulty when season 17 starts. The weapon will stay on rotation throughout the season and beyond.

These are the weapon drop rates per difficulty:

  • Adept (1480 PL) - Rare
  • Hero (1520 PL) - Uncommon
  • Legend (1550 PL) - Common
  • Master (1580 PL) - Common

Other rewards for completing Nightfalls include Exotic gear, Enhancement Prisms, and Ascendant Shards (Master only). The best thing about it is that they're farmable, meaning it's not a single reward each week, but these items can drop multiple times.

On top of this, there are Grandmaster Nightfalls, an even greater difficulty, which debuted on 5th April. Completing this PvE activity will allow you to earn an Adept version of D.F.A, which boasts improved stats and access to Adept mods.

At this moment, we don't know exactly what the perk pool of the D.F.A Hand Cannon will look like. Previously, the gun had some interesting traits including Opening Shot and Rampage.

Having said that, with Season of the Risen, Origin Traits make Nightfall weapons even better for endgame content, as they boast two different ones:

  • Stunning Recovery - Stunning a Champion refills your magazine partially, triggers health regeneration, and improves recovery for a short duration
  • Vanguard's Vindication - Final blows with this weapon grant a small amount of health

While the latter gives more advantages in general content, Stunning Recovery is perfect for Champion-infested activities, especially since Hand Cannons are required to stun Unstoppable ones this season.
