Best Mid Ogre Magi Build In Dota 2 Patch 7.31d

Ogre Magi is a fan-favorite hero in the Dota 2 community, and it’s easy to see why. This Intelligence hero features insanely funny voice lines and character design, which looks goofy and adorable. Better still, Ogre is a great hero to play, especially when paired with the best item and skill build.

Unlike most other Intelligence heroes, Ogre Magi is highly versatile, offering beefiness to tank spells and physical hits. He also dishes out tons of damage and can perma-stun an enemy if luck favors him. This guide details a unique mid-lane build for Ogre Magi in Dota 2 patch 7.31d.

Dota 2 7.31d - Best Ogre Magi Skill Build For Mid Lane

Note: The latest Dota 2 patch 7.31d favors Ogre Magi in the mid-lane; therefore, this build might be suboptimal in future and previous game patches.

From the start of the laning phase, you'll want to max out Ignite as soon as possible. This skill helps to harass the enemy mid-laner with movement speed slow and burning damage. It also pushes the lanes if you want to shove the creep waves and not deal with the enemy directly.

For example, if you are facing heroes like Huskar or Viper in the mid-lane, it's a great idea to cast your spell on enemy creeps and push them under the enemy tower. This will reduce your engagement time with the enemy, restricting them from further damaging you. However, if you feel safe in the lane, don’t be shy about using your skills to harass and zone them out.

Next, you'll want to focus on Fireblast, Ogre Magi's only stun (without Aghs). Once you bring enemy heroes down with Ignite, Fireblast will help keep them in place to deliver the final blow.

While Bloodlust is an amazing skill, it is best to upgrade it last. This is because mid-lane Ogre demands high-damage nukes and pick-off potential, something which Bloodlust fails to offer. Finally, skill Multicast once Ogre hits level six for a huge power spike.

Ogre Magi is tanky, so don’t be afraid to roam around the map and make awkward plays to attract attention. Ogre feeds on the game's momentum, and having a good laning phase is only the opening act. So transition your good mid-laning phase to the rest of the map to allow your safe laner to farm or push other lanes.

Ogre offers a great talent tree as well. It is best to take +16 Ignite DPS at level 10. While +80 Damage on level 15 is great, +250 Health can come in handy if you are dying a lot. For level 20, you can take either +25 Bloodlust AS or +30 Strength. The latter is better in most cases. At level 25, +240 Fireblast Damage is the way to go.
