How to save in Far Cry 6

Make sure your progress isn’t lost by learning how to save in Far Cry 6.
How to save in Far Cry 6

Far Cry 6 is now available on all platforms with players able to start their adventure in Yarra. Throughout the long and arduous journey players will take, there will be times that a save is absolutely required.

Whether it’s before a huge mission or right after beating a difficult part of the game, saving is one of the more important elements of any open-world title. However, in Far Cry 6, some players are confused by the lack of a save button in the menu. When players go to the settings menu, there’s no option to save or even load a recent save, making some anxious about losing their progress.

In this article, we’ll go into everything revolving the save files in Far Cry 6 and how you can ensure that you never lose your progress while traversing through Yarra.

Like a plethora of recent open-world titles, Far Cry 6 employs an auto-save function that automatically saves your progress during most of your time with the game. However, it’s not a fool-proof system and sometimes you’ll think the game has saved for you when it hasn’t. This results in you losing progress and having to restart a mission or even earn some rewards again.

However, there is a way around this if you’re on any of the supported systems. If you’re on any of the supported Xbox or PlayStation consoles, then you don’t have the option to save your progress at all. PC users can find the option in their game settings.

For any Far Cry 6 player, though, the way to get around the auto-save acting up is to simply fast-travel to any safe location. This could be a Libertad checkpoint or one of the hideouts that you’ll find across Yarra. As long as you can fast-travel to it and there are allies nearby, it counts.

Once you’ve fast traveled, you’ll see an icon appear in the top right of your screen. After this icon disappears, then that’s when you can safely exit. Your game has saved when that icon stops moving in Far Cry 6.
