Among the pantheon of Manchester United legends, George Best is arguably one of the most glorified Red Devils. A dazzling winger that many believed was ahead of his time, the late Best became an iconic piece of United.

Spending most of his career playing for a Manchester United that was a far cry from the dominant behemoth we came to know during the Sir Alex Ferguson era, the Northern Irish still displayed magnificent technique and an eye for a goal as a right and left winger, scoring 179 goals for the club, helping them secure two League titles and a European Cup in 1968, the same year he won the coveted Ballon d'Or.

His well-documented drinking problem meant that Best did most definitely not fulfil his true potential as a footballer, a heartbreaking thought considering the heights he reached regardless. 

Leaving the Red Devils at just 29, Best became more preoccupied with partying than performing on the pitch, going on a footballing tour that saw him play in South Africa, the United States, Scotland, and the lower divisions of England, as far down as the fourth division.

In any case, at the peak of his career, Best will be remembered for dominating the wings at United, wearing the now-iconic number 7 jersey on his back, with the Squad Building Challenge celebrating this moment of his career.
