Not only did developer HoYoverse release the 5-star catalyst character, Wanderer Scaramouche, and several other pieces of new content with the Genshin Impact 3.3 update, but they also released a new, permanent gameplay addition in the Genius Invokation Trading Card Game (TCG). With this new game within a game, players will need to know all about the Elemental Reactions to get ahead.
This guide explains what Elemental Reactions are in the Genshin Impact TCG, and lists all of the different types, so you don't get caught off-guard by other players or AI opponents at The Cat's Tail.
How Do Elemental Reactions Work in Genshin Impact TCG?
The Genius Invokation TCG is fast, and Elemental Reactions help the game pick up the pace even more. So how does this mechanic inside Genshin Impact's TCG work?
Well, first off, when characters take Cryo, Hydro, Pyro, Electro, or Dendro DMG, they will have the corresponding Element applied to them. For example, if a character gets hit with an attack that deals Cryo damage, they will have the Cryo element applied to them.
The official rules for Elemental Reactions are:
- Dealing a specific type of Elemental DMG will trigger an Elemental Reaction.
- Using non-DMG effects to perform specific Elemental Applications will also trigger an Elemental Reaction. When calculating the effects of such Elemental Reactions, all DMG-dealing effects will be ignored.
There are two exceptions, as both Geo and Anemo damage cannot apply Elements. The next section featuring all the Elemental Reactions in Genshin Impact's Genius Invokation TCG, after you see them, will make things a bit more clear.
