The ominous Withering Zones were highlighted during the Genshin Impact 3.0 Special Program livestream as areas across Sumeru that a mysterious force had corrupted. As Tighnari and the Forest Rangers continue to determine the cause behind the phenomena, they’ve warned visitors from stepping foot in these areas until more information has been found.
According to a blog post, these corrupted zones won’t be a fixed location, instead will appear at random throughout the rainforests. If Travelers find themselves amid a Withering Zone, there are a few things they can do to combat its effects.
How To Clear And Stop Decay In Genshin Impact?
Unfortunate Travelers encountering a Withering Zone will begin accumulating the Decay status effect. This will decrease All Elemental Resistance (RES), Physical RES, and Max HP for all party members, as continuous exposure could see them be downed.
To overcome Decay, a few places can significantly decrease its effect, namely Candles of Life and Flames of Life. These exploration mechanics contain the power of Dendrogana, which can clear Withering Zones and can be activated or destroyed to solve puzzles.

Travelers can activate Dendrogana while carrying it by using either a Charged Attack or Aimed Shot which can be used to destroy “Withering Branches.” Once the branches have been cleared within a Withering Zone, this summons the zone’s heart known as the “Tumor of the Withering,” which causes enemies to spawn.
Eliminate all the spawned enemies before destroying the heart for the area to have all the corrupted power removed. Travelers can also use a particular POI called Seed Mirror, which can be utilized, akin to a telescope, to locate spawning Withering Zones and halt their spread.
These mechanics will be featured once the Sumeru region launches with Genshin Impact’s 3.0 update, “The Morn a Thousand Roses Brings.” The release date is 24th August 2022 for PlayStation consoles, mobile devices, and PC via the Epic Games Store.
