How To Unlock Infected Ant Shield Recipe in Grounded

To unlock the Infected Ant Shield recipe in Grounded, you must kill Infected Ants in New Game Plus and then analyze Ant Parts until you find the recipe. That's quite a tall order since you must also create a scenario where there are Infected Ants and Infected Ant Queens in New Game Plus to begin with.

To achieve this, you must give Ant Queens an "Infected" version of their favorite food. For example,  give the Infected Mushroom Sandwich to the Red Ant Queen. She'll die, and you'll get a bunch of rewards. You'll also see the following message:

 

You sense a ripple in an alternate dimension.

 

You can feed Ant Queens the following (based on their type) as offerings to turn them into Infected Ant Queens once you enter NG+ mode.

• Give Red Ant Queen an Infected Mushroom Sandwich.
• Give Fire Ant Queen an Infected Toejam Sandwich.
• Give Black Ant Queen an Infected Gum Sandwich.

Once you are in NG+ mode, head to the Ant Hills you've infected, and kill the Infected Ants, then loot them, analyze the Infected Ant Parts until you unlock the Infected Ant Shield recipe.

Crafting the Best Shield in Grounded

The Infected Ant Shield is considered the best shield in Grounded's New Game Plus mode, thanks to its special ability, which adds explosive resistance (of all types) to your arsenal. However, crafting it requires some rare materials. Check out all the necessary materials to craft the best shield in Grounded.

• x1 Infected Ant Head
• x4 Pupa Leather
• x10 Infected Ant Part
• x20 Fungal Growth 

You can enhance this Tier 3 shield even more via the Yoking Station in Grounded's 1.4 update. The only additional requirement is that you need to be at a Workbench to craft the powerful Infected Ant Shield.
