Hearthstone Darkmoon Races mini-set leaked: Release date, price, cards, mechanics, more

Hearthstone's first set of 2021 will be a mini-set called Darkmoon Races, according to a leaked press release.

The fact that the Madness at the Darkmoon Faire expansion will have a mini-set was known since the reveal of the expansion, but we knew very few details about the mid-expansion set.

Blizzard has announced that there will be a mini-set of 35 cards added between two big expansions and that those cards will be a part of Madness at the Darkmoon Faire expansion and added into those packs, but everything else was a mystery.

Now it seems that someone at Windows Central has prematurely published a press release in regards to the new expansion, which shed some light on the set.

According to a now-deleted article, a new Darkmoon Races mini-set will be released on 21st January, just days from now.

It will feature 35 new cards which will be available within Madness at the Darkmoon Faire packs.

The article mentions that the set will mark the return of mechanics first introduced in Ashes of Outland and Scholomance Academy, specifically mentioning dual-class cards and Spellburst keyword, but without giving examples of cards that will feature those mechanics.

It will be interesting to see if new dual-class cards will follow old combinations, or will we see some new class combinations.

In addition, Battlegrounds will also get two new heroes on 21st January and Darkmoon Races will become available in Arena and Duels, which will also get a new hero power for each class and three new treasures.

What's really great news is that the mini-set can also be bought completely for $15 or 2,000 Gold as a bundle that will be available until 11th May.

That bundle includes 4 new Legendary cards and 2 copies of all other new cards, which means you can have a complete mini-set at a price cheaper than the old adventures, but without the single-player content.

Still, that's a very good deal, especially for players that were worried that they will have to grind those cards through Darkmoon packs.

While this all seems fairly plausible and we think that this is legit information, keep in mind that nothing is yet official.

If the set is indeed to be released on 21st January, then we will probably get some official news on Monday, 18th January.
