Best Identity V Persona Builds For Survivors

Wondering what the best persona builds for survivors are in Identity V? Here's your guide in 2023.
Best Identity V Persona Builds For Survivors

There is a wide variety of survivor characters in Identity V, with each one boasting their own unique strengths, weaknesses, and skills. A survivor's ability to perform certain abilities and gain boosts throughout the match is attributed to their persona build. While some players choose to make different persona builds for every type of survivor or even just every single survivor, others tend to bring along the same build no matter who they play.

Some traits are better in Identity V than others, with some being downright almost useless while others can singlehandedly win you games. In this guide, we'll walk you through the best persona builds for survivors and the best approach to building your own persona build.

How To Make Survivor Persona Builds In Identity V

As we delve into persona builds for survivors, we'll need to take a look at how persona builds and persona webs function.  Persona webs are built like a clock, with persona traits going up, right, down, and left at the 0, 3, 6, and 9 positions. Each position has a Final Talent at the end; you'll only be able to purchase two of those Final Talents in any given match.

Your persona build, or persona structure, refers to how to choose to fill out those different possible paths and distribute your points. In other words, if you brought the most common rescue build in the game, you'd be bringing the Final Talents Borrowed Time and Tide Turner - which are at the 3 and 6 positions on the map, making this build "36."

Depending on the character you're playing, you might want to switch up your persona build slightly to emphasize one trait over another; for example, a Rescuer character might lean toward Tide Turner, while a Kiter might go for a trait that helps them in chase like Knee Jerk Reflex. Overall, most characters can benefit from the same few general traits, but many characters can benefit from experimenting with traits and persona builds.

Best Persona Traits For Survivors

Depending on which type of survivor character you choose to play in Identity V, you'll need to adjust your persona build accordingly. Some traits benefit almost all survivors, and are a necessity to include in your build, so you won't need to switch them up.

Still, some characters should take on certain non-conventional and often-unused traits to help them make the most of their ability, so it's important to familiarize yourself with each character's specific skills.

These are some of the best persona traits for any survivor build, as well as why they're critical to have in your back pocket:

  • Borrowed Time - Borrowed Time gives you a boost of speed and health at the end of the game, when the last Cipher is decoded and the exit gates are powered. This free health state and speed boost can be a game-changer for your whole team, preventing vulnerable players from certain death as they try to make their way out of the exit gate or Dungeon. This trait is so common, in fact, that, it's generally assumed that all high-rank players will have it in their persona build.
  • Knee Jerk Reflex - For kiters who want to run the hunter for as long as possible, Knee Jerk Reflex is an absolute necessity. This trait is helpful for both beginners and veterans alike; the speed boost after vaulting is enough to help you continue a chase for a long time, potentially even long enough for other survivors to decode all five Ciphers.
  • Exit Path - This trait allows you to bring yourself back to the injured state from the downed state once; like Borrowed TIme, this trait gives you an extra chance that you wouldn't otherwise have, making it a total game-changer.

If you've played Dead by Daylight, you're no doubt familiar with the best survivor perks and experimenting with survivor builds; persona traits and builds work similar in Identity V, barring the fact that survivors do not have their own abilities to consider in Dead by Daylight

Now let's take a look at all of the best traits for each specific survivor type and playstyle.

Best Traits For Rescuers

Rescuers require the help of niche traits to help them rescue other survivors efficiently, without putting other survivors or themselves in danger. Some survivors are even skilled at balloon rescue, preventing other survivors from ending up in the Rocket Chair in the first place. These traits are beneficial for rescue missions.

  • Flywheel Effect - This trait is useful for balloon rescues and Rocket Chair rescues since it provides you some immunity, giving you the opportuntiy to make the save without getting downed by the hunter.
  • Symbiotic Effect - This trait will help you dash toward Rocket Chairs with survivors in them, ensuring that you get there in time.

Best Traits For Kiters

Another type of survivor is the kiter; if you're a kiter, you love to engage in chases with the hunter. You can use traits to help you outrun the killer and make distance. If you're kiting the hunter, you can use an assortment of these traits.

  • Weber's Law - This trait will allow you to easily gain distance on the hunter by increasing your movement speed. Using Weber's Law, you can extend your chase time and provide teammates more time for important objectives.
  • Herd Behavior - While this trait won't allow you to directly escape chase, it will show your teammates the location of the hunter once you do successfully escape one. In this way, you can use your kiting abilities to not only buy time for teammates, but also provide them with useful information.

Best Traits For Decoders

If you aren't kiting or rescuing, you're probably spending your time decoding five Ciphers so you and your teammates can escape the match. Some traits can help you do that more efficiently. If you're working on a decoding build, try using these traits.

  • Curiosity - An especially useful trait for beginners to Identity V, Curiosity will show you the auras of Ciphers so you can find them throughout the match.
  • Brewing Effect - The Cipher speed boost provided by this trait can really add up over time, allowing you to complete Ciphers extremely quickly.

Now you know how to build a persona build for your survivor character in Identity V. If you want to win more matches, it's important to think about your persona web and how your traits can synergize to help you outrun the hunter or complete more Ciphers.
