With the start of the Sentinels of Light event, players can also become real-life Sentinels by completing quests among all Riot’s games, and buying exclusive content with all sales being destined for charity in partnership with the Riot Games Social Impact Fund.

To be part of the Sentinels Initiative, all you have to do is to log in into your Riot account through the Sentinels Initiative website, where you can nominate a cause (and optionally a specific nonprofit) that’s important to you and your local community.

“Each of the causes have been drawn from the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the world,” mentioned Riot in their event’s press release.

Players who nominate a cause or nonprofit will have to explain the reasons for the nomination, as well as share a photo or YouTube video to accompany their words. The submissions will be active from 8th July to 9th August, 2021. Only one submission per player will be accepted through the entirety of the program.

Players from League of Legends: Wild Rift, Teamfight Tactics, and Legends of Runeterra will be able to complete challenges and goals. Each of the challenges will grant a certain amount of points, which will be summarized into a global Drive Pool.

Legends of Runeterra (14th July at 10 AM PT – 10th Aug at 11:59 PM PT)

  • 1 point per completed event pass level

Wild Rift (8th July at 5 PM PT – 10th Aug at 4:59 PM PT)

  • 1 point per earned Sentinels HQ level

Teamfight Tactics (8th July at 1 PM PT – 10th Aug at 11:59 PM PT)

  • 1 point per 3-starred 1-3 cost unit
  • 2 points per 3-starred 4 cost unit
  • 5 points per 3-starred 5 cost unit

For every 1 million points that players contribute to the Drive Pool, Riot will donate an extra $100,000, adding them to an initial $1 million donation to the Riot Games Social Impact Fund.

Riot Games Sentinels Initiative: Sentinel Olaf Skin

Just as it happened with Elderwood Ornn, one of the new Sentinels of Light will be part of the charity skins collection, being none other that Sentinel Olaf.

From 8th July to 9th August, Riot will contribute 100% of proceeds from the Sentinel Olaf charity bundles and select related items from the in-game store to the Riot Games Social Impact Fund, in partnership with ImpactAssets. You can find all participating content marked with a red and white Riot Fist banner.

“We’re honored by your continued support to drive change in your local communities and by your willingness to rally around nonprofits. We hope you continue to work with us to bring light to our world in our future social impact campaigns!,” added Riot.

Once the Sentinels Initiative period ends, the top 30 causes or nonprofit submissions will win a $10,000 grant from the Riot Games Social Impact Fund for their charity. The winners will be announced publicly in November 2021, but Riot will reach out to the winners directly by email in October.
