Is Life by You Free To Play?

Life by You is an upcoming life-simulation game developed by Paradox Tectonic. Similar to The Sims, players are able to create their own playable humans/characters and guide them through their simulated life. This includes daily chores, work, activities and more. What sets Life by You apart from other life sims is the freedom it promises to players.

According to the developers, Life by You will be "one of the most moddable and open life-sims" and include creator tools such as the Conversation Editor and Object Editor Tool, allowing players to craft their stories as they seem fit. And while Life by You is already drawing comparisons to The Sims, players are wondering if it'll follow the same release method of being free-to-play.

Will Life by You Be Free To Play?

Unfortunately, no. Life by You will not be free to play like The Sims 4, which originally started out as a paid title. Players will be able to access Life by You from its early access period, which begins on March 5, 2024. To do so, players will need to either pre-purchase the game via the Epic Games Store, or wait for the early access period to launch on Steam.

Pre-orders via the Epic Games Store can be purchased for 39.99 USD / 39.99 EUR / 34.99 GBP. Prices on Steam will be the same once the early access period is live. According to the developers, prices will change once the game leaves early access.

What's Playable In Life by You Early Access?

According to the developers, early access will be a playable build of Life by You that will not have all of the content and features available at full launch. However, this version will have frequent patches and will come with an invite to the Life by You private Discord server where players can post their feedback for the dev team.
