Minecraft Legends, the brand-new action-strategy title from Blackbird Interactive and Mojang Studios, releases on PS4/PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC platforms on 18 April 2023, and some gamers might be wondering if Minecraft Legends features crossplay between all these platforms.

Does Minecraft Legends Feature Crossplay?

We've got some good news to get this article started. Minecraft Legends features full crossplay functionality between all platforms. Yes, this means that those on PS4, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch, and more can play the game together.

Since the game focuses on co-op play and multiplayer, this is excellent news for gamers across the globe. No matter what platform you play on, and the platforms of your friends, you will be able to drive back the Piglin invasion of the Overworld together.

Is Minecraft Legends Cross-Buy?

What if you purchase Minecraft Legends on the Nintendo Switch...Can you then also play it on PC or PS4, for example? 

Unfortunately, no, Minecraft Legends is not cross-buy. This means that if you want to play it on another platform, you must make another purchase. Remember, the game is a Day 1 release on Xbox Game Pass.

In a FAQ about Minecraft Legends' release, the developers explain:

Minecraft Legends purchases are not cross-platform. Buying the game on one platform does not provide access to another. Make sure you’re buying on the platform you prefer.

While some fans might be a bit disappointed by this, just remember that almost no game is cross-buy. The price of Minecraft Legends varies, so check out your preferred gaming platform's digital storefront to pre-order or purchase the game.
