Outriders has some crossplay issues at launch so we walk you through the process of enabling crossplay, and what you can do to fix the issues.

Outriders crossplay issues: How to fix and enable

As with nearly every other online game's launch, Outriders isn't perfect. From some crashes to disconnects experienced by players. While the game does have full crossplay support as well as cross-progression, players are struggling to enjoy the sci-fi romp with others, especially if console and PC gamers try to group up. Here's what we know so far about the Outriders crossplay issues, how to enable the feature, and what you can do to fix it.

While Steam and Epic Games Store players can enjoy Outriders together, and PlayStation can crossplay with Xbox, Outriders players are running into issues when trying to crossplay between PC and Consoles.

People Can Fly explains: "Should you invite a console player into your PC game via an invite code (or vice versa), the game will initially connect, but one player will eventually be kicked out of the game. We highly recommend against doing this until we have patched all versions of the game."

As you can see in the image above, the developer has disabled automatic matchmaking between PC and Consoles due to this ordeal.

Unfortunately, this means you will have to wait for the next update to release before you can crossplay in Outriders between PC and Console gamers.

 

How to enable Outriders crossplay

If you want to play between PlayStation and Xbox, still making use of some Outriders crossplay features until the PC/Consoles issue is fixed, then you need to enable crossplay.

Thankfully, enabling crossplay in Outriders is quite easy. Follow the steps below to enable this feature.

  • Launch Outriders.
  • From the lobby menu, select options.
  • Select the "Gameplay tab" and scroll down to the bottom.
  • Select "Enable Crossplay".
  • Close the options menu and choose "Play With Friends" to start crossplay between platforms if some of your friends or on another platform.
  • You can also join a random team from this menu if you don't have any friends online.

As you can see, it is quite a painless experience to enable Outriders crossplay.

While there's no fix for the Outriders crossplay issues, you do need to make sure you have the feature enabled, and then wait for developer People Can Fly to release the next update, which is expected to release sometime between 6th and 10th April 2021.
