Trainers have been assisting Team Mystic and Team Instinct leaders, Blanche and Spark, and now the final leader calls for your help in the upcoming event for Pokémon GO. Team Valor's Candela requires assistance for powering and battling Pokémon by completing research tasks in the A Valorous Hero event.
Additionally, new Pokémon will be debuting for this event in new Raid encounters for which there are plenty of rewards to earn. We've detailed everything about the A Valorous Hero event, including the event schedule, featured Pokémon, and research tasks in Pokémon GO's Season of Rising Heroes.
Pokémon GO A Valorous Hero Event Dates & Times
The next in-game event for Pokémon GO's Season of Rising Heroes, A Valorous Hero, will go live on 11th May 2023 at 10 am local time. This event will run for one week, concluding on 17th May 2023 at 8 pm for Trainers to complete the event-exclusive activities.

This time, you'll be assisting Team Valor leader, Candula in various research activities centered around powering and battling Pokémon. These activities will reward you with plenty of encounters and other items, and you can take advantage of the event-exclusive bonuses, which include the following:
- Double Candy when catching Pokémon
- Double the chance to earn Candy XL from catching Pokémon for Trainers Level 31 and higher.
Pokémon GO A Valorous Hero Event: Featured Pokémon
A Valorous Hero will mark the debut of Mega Pinsir, who'll be appearing in Mega Raids during and following this event. Likewise, there's a chance you may encounter a Shiny Mega Pinsir, also appearing for the first time in Pokémon GO.
Another Pokémon marking its debut is Shiny Tapu Fini, for which Tapu Fini had previously appeared in Raids during the Season of Rising Heroes. You can go head-to-head with Shiny Tapu Fini during the five-star Raids for the A Valorous Hero event and the upcoming Raid Hour event on 10th May 2023 between 6 pm and 7 pm local time.
Pokémon GO A Valorous Hero Event: Field & Special Research Tasks
The A Valorous Hero event will feature Timed, Special, and Field Research tasks that Trainers can participate in and complete to earn various rewards. The details for these research activities have yet to be revealed, and as such, we'll update this guide with all the tasks and rewards provided by notable Pokémon source Leek Duck.
The Timed Research will likely be available for the event, so you must complete all tasks before the event concludes. You can receive Fast and Charged Technical Machines (TM) as rewards upon completion.
Lastly, the Special Research story, A Valorous Hero, will be available as you can help out Team Valor leader Candela by completing its tasks. This will lead to an encounter with an event-exclusive Ponyta wearing a Candela-themed accessory with a possibility that it may be a Shiny Pokémon.
Below we've detailed all the research tasks for the Field, Special and Timed Research for the A Valorous Hero event for Pokémon GO:
- Battle three Team GO Rocket Grunts: Revive x5
- Battle at a Gym: Hyper Potion x3
- Power up any Pokémon: Stardust x300
- Power up any Pokémon five times: Stardust x1,000
- Power up any Pokémon ten times: Ponyta* encounter
A Valorous Hero Special Research (1/4)
- Catch 15 Pokémon: Poké Ball x10
- Power up any Pokémon five times: Stardust x1,000
- Use 15 Berries when catching Pokémon: Razz Berry x10
- Page Rewards: 1,500 XP and a Charmander encounter
A Valorous Hero Special Research (2/4)
- Battle three Team GO Rocket members: Revive x3
- Power up any Pokémon ten times: Stardust x2,000
- Use supereffective Charged Attacks five times: Pinap Berry x10
- Page Rewards: 2,000 XP and a Stufful encounter
A Valorous Hero Special Research (3/4)
- Battle at a Gym three times: Revive x5
- Caught 15 Pokémon: Great Ball x15
- Power up any Pokémon 15 times: Stardust x2,500
- Page Rewards: 2,500 XP and a Ponyta wearing a Candela-themed accessory encounter

- Claim Reward!: Charizard Mega Energy x80
- Claim Reward!: Hyper Potion x5
- Claim Reward!: Revive x7
- Page Rewards: 2,500 XP and Stardust x2,500
A Valorous Hero Timed Research (1/2)
- Battle three Team GO Rocket Grunts: Hyper Potion x5
- Catch five Pokémon: Poké Ball x10
- Make five Great Throws: Razz Berry x10
- Power up any Pokémon ten times: Stardust x1,000
- Page Rewards: 1,000 XP, Stardust x1,000, and a Fast TM

- Battle at a Gym three times: Hyper Potion x5
- Catch five Pokémon: Poké Ball x10
- Make five Great Throws: Razz Berry x10
- Power up any Pokémon ten times: Stardust x1,000
- Page Rewards: 1,000 XP, Stardust x1,000, and a Charged TM
Remember, the Seasonal Special Research story, An Everyday Hero, will also be available for Trainers to access and help out Professor Willow. You'll have until Pokémon GO's Season of Rising Heroes ends on 1st June 2023 at 10 am local time to claim and begin completing its tasks and earn rewards.
