PokeMiners were the ones to leak the information about a Battle Pass in Pokémon GO. Niantic has had no part in the reveal of a potential pass, so the information could turn out to be false or evolve in some way before an official release. However, PokeMiners is a known reliable source for leaked information in GO.
Will Pokémon GO get a Battle Pass next season?
To get most of their leaked information, PokeMiners will data mine updates that Niantic pushes to the game files, hence the name they have. While the Battle Pass itself has no true confirmation, there is certainly a reference to a pass in the game files right now.
PokeMiners found a reference to an item called a "Battle Pass Ticket" rather than the pass itself. Tickets are nothing new to Pokémon GO and nearly every major event or Community Day will involve a purchasable ticket. It makes sense that the same method would be used for a potential pass.

Since Niantic moved the GO format to a seasonal format with three-month intervals, there have been themes and new features introduced with each one. For example, Ultra Beasts were the focus of the Season of GO, along with gifting tickets to friends.
The Season of GO is set to end as soon as September comes around in 2022. The GO Fest 2022 finale will bring August to an end, and the festive Season of GO will disappear. There would be no better time for a new pass than the start of the Fall Season for GO in general.
All of the details for the new season are still under wraps and it's hard to tell what may come with it. But there are plenty of items that could be thrown into a small Battle Pass for Pokémon GO. There would likely be Poké Balls, Elite TMs, and rare Pokémon encounters that encourage playing all season.
There may also be some options to purchase additional tiers of the pass just like any other live service game. We'll certainly find out what Niantic has planned in the coming weeks after the Season of GO.
