Can Spinarak be shiny in Pokémon GO - June Spotlight

As the next June Spotlight Hour approaches during the Season of GO, learn if Spinarak can be shiny in Pokémon GO.
Can Spinarak be shiny in Pokémon GO - June Spotlight

The third week of June in the Season of GO has begun, which means another round of weekly events and a chance for a shiny Spinarak in Pokémon GO. Like clockwork, each new week in Pokémon GO will always bring a brand new Spotlight Hour with a featured Pokémon and plenty of spawns.

Regardless of the Season, Spotlight Hours are always something to look forward to on Tuesday nights within your region. Unlike Community Days though, the featured Pokémon is not always guaranteed to have a shiny form for collection. On June 21, Trainers will have a chance for their own bright-colored bug.

Like the Spotlight Hour that went live last week, Spinarak is a Generation II Pokémon that does have a shiny form to catch in Pokémon GO. Shiny Spinarak is just one of the many available shinies that come from Generation I and Generation II. Because of the Kanto and Johto events, nearly every entry in the first two gens has a complete shiny Pokédex.

While it's confirmed that shiny Spinarak is available to catch during the June Spotlight Hour this week, that doesn't mean you'll get one. The chance to catch one and getting lucky enough to find one are two different things. Community Days offer a much better chance for a shiny Pokémon, but that won't be the case here.

You'll only have one hour to try your luck at a candy-colored Spinarak. In that time, there are ways to increase your chances of finding what you want. Incense Lures and Lure Modules are your best shot. These will ensure that Spinarak continues to spawn, even as you check the wild spawns around you.

With both lures running, if you have those resources, you'll also want to make sure that you are in an area full of other people or PokéStops. During the Spinarak Spotlight Hour, the spider will appear in droves around the wild, but especially in marked locations.

Considering you only have one hour to participate in the Spotlight Hour, you'll want to manage your time well. To check for shinies quickly, keep in mind that catching Pokémon is not necessary. Any time that you tap on a Spinarak and begin an encounter you will find out immediately if it is shiny or not. Simply back out and find another if there was no luck.

After the hour ends, there will still be Spinarak spawns during the TCG Crossover event, and a shiny is still possible. But the massive amount of spider spawns won't happen again for some time. The hour itself will take place at 6 pm local time on June 21, 2022.
