How To Catch Cosmog In Pokémon GO

With the Season of Light taking priority in September, learn how to catch a Cosmog of your own in Pokémon GO.
How To Catch Cosmog In Pokémon GO

The Season of Light is officially live on September 1, and Cosmog is one of the first new Legendaries to be added to the content road map. Niantic has already teased at least three Legendaries that will debut this season, and each one will likely have its own path to a catch.

Most Legendaries in Pokémon GO are introduced through five-star raids. However, some of the smaller Legendary Pokémon are reserved for event-based tasks and research.

Shaymin is one example of a rare catch that was never available in raids. This guide will outline how to get a Cosmog of your own as the Season of Light begins.

As soon as the new season begins in Pokémon GO, there will be a set of Special Research that everyone can claim. This research is called A Cosmic Companion, and everyone that logs into the game by December 1 will have access to all of the tasks. However, only one-third of the research will be revealed each month.

Despite waiting until December for every step of A Cosmic Companion, we'll only need the first few steps. As a reward for completing the first step of A Cosmic Companion, you'll earn an encounter with Cosmog. Professor Willow will have the Legendary with him for the duration of the season.

There are three tasks to complete the first step in the Season of Light Special Research. Luckily, they're relatively easy and will coincide with the upcoming Psychic-type event. Below you can find the initial three tasks.

  • Catch 15 Pokémon - 5 Razz Berries
  • Make 10 Curveball Throws - Staryu Encounter
  • Catch 15 Psychic-type Pokémon - 5 Pinap Berries
  • Rewards: Cosmog Encounter, 1,000 XP, 500 Stardust

Further into the research steps, there will also be Cosmog Candies in the rewards. These could be set for increasing CP, or they could be used for evolution. After all, Cosmog has an evolution called Cosmoem that has also been teased in the Season of Light trailers. However, the latest files haven't shown any evolution status just yet.

Overall, there are ten steps that can be completed by the end of A Cosmic Companion in Pokémon GO. It's possible that we could get another Cosmog encounter in the Season of Light or just more candies for upgrades. Either way, there is still plenty of research to look forward to.
