Every playable Pokémon and main roles featured in Pokémon Unite

Pokémon Unite, is the latest entry in the Pokémon franchise and it is set to be its most competitive yet. A MOBA ala League of Legends, it will feature classic Pokémon from across the generations, all thanks to a partnership between The Pokémon Company and TiMi Studio Group.

As of now, five main roles and 20 different Pokémon will be available in tha game at launch, so if you want to prepare before the game opens its servers, or you want to get a closer look on some of them, here we show you every single Pokémon and roles you can choose in Pokémon Unite.

Pokémon Unite: Attackers

This is composed of Pokémon with low Endurance that excel by dealing heavy ranged damage to opponents. If you enjoy playing aggressive while making flashy and powerful attacks with a good area of damage, this is the role perfect for you.

  • Venusaur: Venusaur comes with a suite of abilities that favor dealing damage in an area, making it clutch for handling groups of opponents.
  • Pikachu: Pikachu excels at damaging opponents from a distance and leaving them paralyzed. Its Unite Move, Thunderstorm, blasts nearby Pokémon with powerful lightning.
  • Alolan Ninetales: Alolan Ninetales has abilities that slow or even stop a target’s movement by freezing them entirely. Its Unite Move, Snow Globe, deals additional damage to frozen enemies.
  • Cinderace: Cinderace can maximize its damage potential by attacking at a distance. Its Blaze Kick is a guaranteed critical hit on opponents it hits, making it a good source of reliable spike damage.
  • Cramorant: Cramorant has ways to move around the map and stay at its optimal distance. Its Gulp Missile Ability allows it to periodically capture prey in its mouth, spitting the prey at any opposing Pokémon attacking it.
  • Greninja: Greninja is all about damage and mobility, with plenty of tricks to keep it at a distance from opponents.

Pokémon Unite: Defenders

In contrast to Attackers, the Defenders are Pokémon with high Endurance and skills that allow you to protect your allies and hinder your opponents. So, if you are used to playing as a tank character with abilities which could change the course of the match, this will be your role.

  • Slowbro: Slowbro has numerous ways to keep its HP up. Its Oblivious Ability causes incoming damage to be taken moments after it’s dealt.
  • Snorlax: Snorlax can keep its massive health pool full with moves that keep it healed, as well as support allies and immobilize foes. Its Unite Move, Power Nap, restores HP while damaging enemies around it.
  • Crustle: Crustle is packed with high Endurance stats, and its Unite Move, Rubble Rouser, briefly reduces the damage it takes while also immobilizing and damaging nearby opponents.

Pokémon Unite: All-Rounders

If you prefer to instead make a fair amount of damage, but also have good resilience and survivability stats, you will love to choose an All-Rounder. These are Pokémon with a balance in Offense and Endurance, being highly tenacious fighters with incredible attacks and hard strikes.

  • Charizard: Charizard leverages a variety of ways to deal damage over time with its flame attacks. Its Unite Move allows it to fly over obstacles and recover health whenever it deals damage to an enemy.
  • Garchomp: Garchomp is every bit as dangerous up close as it looks, with an Ability that reflects a portion of melee damage dealt to it and numerous ways to increase its attack speed.
  • Lucario: Lucario benefits from staying in the melee, with plenty of combos that can reset the cooldown of its moves to build strong momentum in the right hands.
  • Machamp: Machamp proves the power of muscle, by having a number of ways to make it immune to hinderances, so it can keep up a momentum that’s tough to stop.

Pokémon Unite: Supporters

For those who instead want to provide team support from the back by healing and inflicting team conditions on opponents, the Supporters will be the role you will be looking for. This role is as important as all of the above, as it gives your team the tools they need to succeed in teamfights and survive the fight.

  • Mr. Mime: Mr. Mime is all about controlling the opponent’s position. Its Light Screen can create a wall that enemies can’t pass through, cutting off their approach or their escape.
  • Eldegoss: Eldegoss may look soft, however its Cotton Guard protects Eldegoss and its allies from taking damage and restores some HP.
  • Wigglytuff: Wigglytuff has lots of ways to keep opponents slowed and their movement locked down. With the right timing, it can change the tide of battle by opening up opportunities for teammates.

Pokémon Unite: Speedsters

Last but not least, and for those who love making quick attacks while scoring points, you will get to choose the Speedsters. These are Pokémon that have high Mobility and Offense stats, meaning these tricky characters can be both powerful and elusive.

  • Gengar: Gengar is packed with lots of tricks to move around the battlefield quickly and deal high damage up close to opponents.
  • Absol: Absol is a dangerous opponent to encounter solo, as it can put out a ton of damage in a short amount of time.
  • Talonflame: With a playstyle that favors speed, it does best getting in and out of combat quickly to make the most of its below-average HP pool.
  • Zeraora: This Mythical Pokémon available for free at launch is fast as lightning, catching opponents and dealing massive damage in the blink of an eye. Its Unite Move sends out a powerful electric blast, creating a zone of plasma around its strike zone.

And that’s every single Pokémon and role available in Pokémon Unite at launch. More Pokémon will be joining the roster in the future, so for sure this list will be evolving as this MOBA starts to take shape.

Pokémon Unite is available for free exclusively on Nintendo Switch, with a release slated for mobiles in September 2021.
