Budew is a baby Pokémon that needs to be evolved into Roselia before it has any substantial use in Pokémon Legends: Arceus.
How to evolve Budew in Pokémon Legends Arceus

Baby Pokémon have been around since the early generations of the series. While they look adorable and can eventually evolve into formidable Pokémon, they serve no other use other than to fill up the Pokédex and be a precursor to stronger mons. The same is true in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, as there are several baby Pokémon that can be caught early on. Budew is one that fans will recognize instantly, as it was introduced in Generation IV. Budew is the pre-evolution of Roselia, which evolves into one of the best Grass-type Pokémon in Hisui, Roserade.

In order to first acquire Roselia and then Roserade, players need to find out how to evolve Budew. The evolution processes in Pokémon Legends: Arceus can be quite different from previous games, so players want to ensure they’re following the right steps to evolve their Pokémon. For Budew specifically, the process can be a little confusing, especially for newer players to the franchise.

The first thing players need to do on this quest is to physically catch a Budew. This can be done early on in Hisui, as Budew is located in Crimson Mirelands. Specifically, Budew is encountered at Golden Lowlands and Gapejaw Bog. It’s a common encounter in these two sections of Crimson Mirelands, so players shouldn't have trouble finding the small Grass and Poison-type.

Once Budew is caught, players can work on evolving it into Roselia. To do this, Budew needs to have a maxed-out friendship level. Friendship level can be increased in Pokémon Legends: Arceus by giving Pokémon berries, using them in battle without fainting, and keeping its HP as high as possible. Also, having your Pokémon out with you is a terrific way to speed up the friendship process.

Along with a max friendship level, Budew must also acquire this level during the day. So if you max out its friendship level at night, you have to wait until daytime to evolve Budew into Roselia.

If you’ve met both of these requirements, go to your party screen and the Poké Ball next to Budew’s name should be flashing. Click on Budew and it will evolve into Roselia, also a Grass and Poison-type. Your goal now is to evolve Roselia into Roserade, but that’s a guide for another day.

That’s everything you need to know about evolving Budew into Roselia in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. For more game guides and information on the ultra-popular series, check out our dedicated Pokémon page.
