In any Pokémon game, powerful Grass-type moves are hard to come by. They’re less damaging than other typed moves by nature and players usually have to rely on lesser moves to fill up their Grass-type’s move pool. However, that’s not the case in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.
Energy Ball is perhaps the best Grass-type move, outside of Frenzy Plant, available in Sinnoh. It has a 90 base power and 100 accuracy, making it on par with moves like Shadow Ball and Ice Beam. Unfortunately, players have found it difficult to locate the TM in the Sinnoh remakes. Below, players can see exactly where they can find TM53 in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.
Finding Energy Ball in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl
Before you can even think about acquiring TM53 Energy Ball, you’ll need to beat the game of either Pokémon Brilliant Diamond or Shining Pearl. Once you’ve defeated Cynthia in the Elite Four, you can access different areas north of the Pokémon League. Before you can fully access the areas, though, you need to acquire the National Dex by seeing all 151 Pokémon in the Sinnoh Dex.
One of the areas north of the Pokémon League is the Battle Zone, which is near where you’ll find Energy Ball. Head to the north path of the Battle Zone, which will open Route 225 complete with grass patches and trainers. Run through the route to reach the Survival Area.
From here, head to the eastern Route 226. Near the beginning of this route, there will be some rocks to scale using Rock Climb. They’re southeast of the Survival Area, so you should see them if you follow the route this way.
Use Rock Climb on the rocks to go up and then use it again to descend the rocks near the green-haired ace trainer. Go east from here to ascend more rocks. You will see two trainers at the top of the rocks, both of which you need to defeat. After you have, use Rock Climb for the last time on the descending rocks to reach the Poké Ball containing TM53 Energy Ball. You can now teach it to your Grass-type Pokémon in Brilliant Diamond or Shining Pearl.
