Pokémon GO Fest 2021: How to register, date, time, all cities, and more

Niantic, the developers of Pokémon GO, recently announced this year’s Pokémon GO Fest and we couldn’t be more excited! It’s clear that not even the coronavirus pandemic will stomp the pedals on this one, as the real-world celebrations are planned to occur in over 20 cities this year.

Indeed, the Pokémon GO Fest will not match the scale of previous years (for obvious reasons) but it will still play host to some really awesome events and activities that die-hard Pokémon fans will absolutely love.

Pokémon GO Fest 2021: How to Register

This year’s Pokémon GO Fest will feature a virtual event, in addition to in-person celebrations across several cities around the world. This means that all Pokémon GO players will be able to take part in the Festival, no matter where they may be.

The only catch is that players attending the in-person event will be able to attend the IRL festivities, including being able to do photo ops and trade Pokémon with other real-life Pokémon Trainers. Players that are unable to attend the in-person Festival will, however, benefit from exclusive special event activities in their home cities.

To take part in the event, Pokémon GO players must register ahead of time either online at the Niantic website or through the Events menu within the Pokémon GO app. Registration is free, but there are limited slots available. So make sure you register quickly before it’s too late.

Pokémon GO Fest 2021: Date and Time

The Pokémon GO Fest will run between 10:00 AM to 18:00 PM local time on Saturday, the 17th of July. Niantic indicated that there are no events scheduled for Sunday, the 18th of July since they will be themed around Legendary raids.

On this day, Pokémon GO players will have a chance to catch every Legendary Pokémon between 10:00 AM and 18:00 PM local time. There will set hours for catching Wind, Lava, Frost, and Thunder-type Legendary Pokémon. So if you’re in the market for a Mewtwo, Articuno, or Lugia, then you definitely do not want to miss out.

Oh, and the best part is that the Raid will feature Dialga and Palkia, which haven’t been available in over two years. Players will also have a chance to earn extra XP completing Raid Battles and access regional-specific Pokémon, like Chatot, Sawk, and Throh.
