Where to find Uxie in Pokémon Legends: Arceus

Pokémon’s lake guardians, Uxie, Mesprit and Azelf, more commonly known as the Lake Trio, have returned to the Hisui region following their appearance in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl games. Having a great significance in the game, as they had in BDSP, Trainers would be happy to know that they can catch the legendary trio in Arceus.

One of these lake guardians, Uxie, will be a little harder to catch as the legendary Pokémon will task trainers with a trial to test their Pokémon knowledge. In this guide, we detail where to find Uxie, how to solve the riddle and which Pokémon are the best counters against Uxie.

Where to find Uxie in Pokémon Legends: Arceus?

While each location is quite tricky to uncover, Trainers would need to be quite ahead in the game’s main Missions before encountering them. They would need to complete Mission 13, “Disaster Looming”, for the Ancient Retreat location to be available.

Much like locating Heatran, Trainers will need to head to the location, look for Cogita in her tent and speak to her. The dialogue with her will unlock several side missions in the form of Research Tasks; one of them will have you locating “the three lake Pokémon”.

The Plate of the Lakes is the Research Task where Trainers will head out to three different locations to find each of the Lake Trio. Uxie, Mesprit and Azelf will be located inside caves at the following locations:

• Uxie is located at Lake Acuity at the Alabaster Icelands
• Mesprit can be found at Lake Varity at the Obsidian Fieldlands
• Azelf is at Lake Valor at Crimson Mirelands

Travel to the Alabaster Icelands and head north to find lake Acuity, where Trainers will meet an Alpha Zoaroark. They will have the option to either defeat the Alpha Pokémon or capture it using a Great or Ultra Ball.

How to solve Uxie’s riddle in Pokémon Legends: Arceus?

Once the Alpha Pokémon is defeated or captured, Uxie will appear, for which they’ll task Trainers to solve a riddle. The Pokémon will test their Pokémon knowledge by asking how many eyes specific Pokémon would have.

Those Pokémon in question are Combee, Zubat, Unown, Magneton and Dusclops as Uxie will require to answer “one by one, yet all at once”. They can browse through the Pokédex to determine the answer to the riddle, but the answer in the sequential order is 60131.

Uxie will reward trainers with a piece of the Red Chain, which you’ll need two more pieces from the other lake Pokémon. As such, Trainers will be allowed to capture Uxie much later on.

Best Uxie counters in Pokémon Legends: Arceus

Trainers will be repeating the process with Mespirt and Azelf, each providing a different task before granting them a piece of the Red Chain. Once assembled, the Lake Trio will return to their respective lakes, where they can head back to the Alabaster Icelands and find Uxie once again at Lake Acuity.

Remember to use Ultra Balls when capturing the legendary Pokémon. As Uxie is a Psychic-type Pokémon, they are weak to Bug, Ghost and Dark-type Pokémon, so we recommend bringing out Girantina, Darkrai, Bascuilegion or the Hisuian Typhlosion into battle.

Once you have defeated Uxie, use an Ultra Ball to catch the Pokémon before adding it to your Pokédex. Having acquired the legendary Pokémon, learn and train them well before using them in battle against more formidable Trainers in the Hisui region.
