Red Dead Redemption Port Announced For PlayStation, Nintendo Switch

Rockstar Games have announced that a long-awaited port of the 2010 Western action-adventure game, Red Dead Redemption, is finally on the way. Rumors had previously spouted that the title was scheduled for a remaster/remake, however, it has now been revealed that a port will be arriving later this month.

The original Red Dead Redemption follows the story of John Marston across the American West and Mexico. The narrative picks up a number of years after the events of Red Dead Redemption 2.

In an announcement, posted to Twitter, Rockstar Games revealed that the port will be arriving on August 17, 2023 to both PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. The port will include the original 2010 main game and the horror-inspired DLC Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare.

In an additional blog post, the studio revealed that the port is being handled by Double Eleven Studios. "In a new conversion by Double Eleven Studios, the Switch and PS4 versions bring the two classic experiences together again for both new players and original fans to enjoy across modern consoles, including backwards compatibility with the PlayStation 5."

The announcement also confirmed that the port will have supported languages, including for the first time, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, Korean, Polish, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, and Latin American Spanish.

The news might come with some disappointment for certain fans. For now, it seems the port will not be arriving on Xbox consoles, though the title has been playable via Game Pass for some time. Additionally, it seems the port will only be available for PlayStation 5 owners via backwards compatibility.

How Much Will Red Dead Redemption Port Cost?

According to Rockstar, Red Dead Redemption and Undead Nightmare will be $49.99 on the Nintendo Switch eShop and PlayStation Store.

Red Dead Redemption Port PlayStation & Switch Release Date

The digital version of Red Dead Redemption will be available from August 17 on both PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch digital storefronts, while a physical release will be arriving on October 13.
