We’ve been waiting for it for a long time but finally, Psyonix is letting tournament organizers put together events with high prize pools. 

The brainchild of John “JohnnyBoi_i” MacDonald and INCIVIK, the founder of Sandrock Gaming, The European Invitational is a tournament featuring all the European RLCS teams, five qualified European RLRS teams, and a wild card side from Saudi Arabia, Sandrock Gaming.

Teams will battle it out for a share of the $20,000 prize pool and the chance to be crowned champions of the inaugural European Invitational.

The tournament kicks off tonight (3rd March), and will run throughout the month of March with games being played from 5 pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. 

The Grand Finals will be held on Saturday the 28th March at 17:00 pm GMT.

The European Invitational will be played exclusively online with all the action being broadcast live on JohnnyBoi_i's Twitch channel.

The tournament will be played across four weeks - with the group stage taking two weeks to complete and the playoffs two weeks.

Group Stage - 3rd - 12th March

The 16 teams will be split into four groups of four. Each team will play each other once in a Best of 5 - with the top 2 teams from each group earning a place in the Playoffs.

Playoffs - 17th - 25th March

The playoffs will be a double-elimination bracket with all games being a Best of 7 excluding the Winners’ Round 1 which will be a Best of 5.

The Grand Finals - 28th March

The Grand Finals which will be held on the 28th March will be a Bo9 with the team entering through the Winners' Finals receiving a game advantage. No bracket reset.

The European Invitational will feature the 10 teams that make up the European RLCS. 

Plus five teams from the RLRS that earned their place in a qualifier held in the days prior to the start of the tournament; they are Notorious Legion, We Dem Girlz, Servette, Triple Trouble and RCD Espanyol. 

The last and final team is Sandrock Gaming the wild card side from Saudi Arabia.
