Fans of Silent Hill who have been hoping for updates on the Silent Hill 2 remake are in luck, as the upcoming game's developers have updated the title's Steam page with a new icon featuring a redesigned version of the main character, James Sunderland.

The newer icon features a younger-looking James, with less stubble and a softer face, more like his original appearance in Silent Hill 2. It's only visible on the game's back-end Steam page, not the user-facing side that most will see.

Updates surrounding the psychological and survival horror title have largely been scarce since it was announced last year during the Silent Hill Transmission, but after Bloober Team confirmed that the game is complete and they're just waiting on Konami to release the game, updates have been picking up.

In fact, Konami recently released a SH2 combat trailer - the game's first official trailer since the announcement trailer - that Bloober Team criticized, claiming it didn't fully reflect the "spirit" of the game they'd created. Bloober Team has repeatedly assured fans that the remake will be faithful to the original game, albeit with some new content and changes to modernize the title. The game also recently got an official ESRB rating, both in the US and in Korea.

There's still no confirmed release date for Bloober Team and Konami's Silent Hill 2 remake, but a mid-to-late 2024 release is looking more and more likely as marketing and official announcements around the game have been more abundant than ever, and it's confirmed that the game is already completed.
