Capcom Pro Tour Online 2020: Start date, schedule and format

As the coronavirus pandemic causes the cancellation of offline events for the foreseeable future, Capcom has outlined a whole new online circuit for Street Fighter V: Champion Edition. 

In their latest announcement on 14th May, Capcom cancelled all remaining offline premiers, ranking events and World Warrior events for the 2020 season. 

The cancellation comes with the silver lining of Capcom Pro Tour Online 2020, which will lead into the Capcom Cup 2020. So here’s what you need to know about the new online circuit.

What is the format of the Capcom Pro Tour Online 2020? 

The Capcom Pro Tour Online consists of 18 online regional tournaments, with the winner from each tournament automatically qualifying for the Capcom Cup 2020. 

These regional tournaments are split across varying regions in North America, Europe, Asia, South America, China and Australia. 

The first tournament starts 6th June in North America East. 

How else can you qualify for the Capcom Cup 2020? 

Along with the 18 winners from each regional tournament, 2019’s Capcom Cup winner Derek “iDom” Ruffin is also automatically qualified. 

The final 20th slot will be awarded to one of the 31 finalists from Capcom Cup 2019, the the winner decided through a community vote.

When does the Capcom Cup 2020 take place? 

The final stop on the Capcom Pro Tour Online circuit will take place in the US, instead of France, in the first quarter of 2021. 

An official date is set to be announced in the future.
