New Tomb Raider Game May Be in the Works, According to Insiders and a Recent Job Listing

The Tomb Raider franchise is arguably one of the most iconic survival and treasure-hunting series in gaming history. Like many fans, I’ve been eager to find out what’s next for Lara Croft following the reboot trilogy, which concluded with Shadow of the Tomb Raider in 2018. Now, nearly seven years later, a new job listing and insider reports suggest that Lara may soon return for another adventure.

Back in 2022, Crystal Dynamics announced they were working on a new project. While it wasn’t explicitly labeled as a Tomb Raider game, many fans—including myself—assumed it would be. Since then, however, the developers have remained silent. But now, a recent discovery might hint at a new entry in the franchise.

A job listing uncovered on Reddit reveals that Crystal Dynamics is hiring a Senior Level Designer to lead a “strike team”—a role typically associated with the final stages of game development. The listing highlights a focus on “puzzle design, ideally with third-person action-adventure games,” which strongly suggests the project could be the next Tomb Raider.

Adding to the speculation, industry insider @thevscooper—well known for reliable leaks on franchises like Tomb Raider—claimed back in May 2024 that the next game would be set in India. If that timeline holds, it makes sense that a year later, the studio would begin assembling developers for the final phase of production.

Of course, none of this has been officially confirmed by Crystal Dynamics, so as always, take it with a grain of salt. Still, the signs are encouraging, and we’re hopeful that Lara Croft’s next adventure is on the horizon. With any luck, 2025 will bring the announcement fans have been waiting for.
