Valheim: How To Find Withered Bones And What To Do With Them

Withered Bones might not look too important at first but they are essential to advancing in Valheim. Here is how to find Withered Bones in Valheim and how to use them in the game.
Valheim: How To Find Withered Bones And What To Do With Them

When traversing the Swamp biome in Valheim, players will likely stumble across a plethora of new and interesting resources.

However, some of these resources are not immediately accessible and are earned by chance. While something like Ancient Bark can simply be chopped down, other materials like Iron Scraps and Withered Bones aren’t extremely easy to come across.

Of course, heading down into a Sunken Crypt will likely afford you both of these resources. Although, in regards to Withered Bones, players don’t exactly know what to do with the material once it’s added to their inventory. Today, we’ll be going over exactly what to do with the Withered Bones once you find them in Valheim.

Finding and using Withered Bones in Valheim

A Withered Bone is most commonly found through mining Muddy Scrap Piles in Sunken Crypts. The Crypts are unlocked with the Swamp Key that you receive after defeating the game’s second boss, the Elder.

In order to find a Crypt, you simply have to trudge around the Swamp. The ominous, green-glowing buildings are plentiful in the Swamp but are usually guarded by Draugrs and Blobs, so make sure to bring at least Bronze armour and some healing mead.

Once inside of the Crypt, begin mining the mining Muddy Scrap Piles with a Bronze Pickaxe. Eventually, you’ll receive Scrap Iron, Leather Scraps and Withered Bones. The former two resources are obvious in their use but the same doesn’t apply to Withered Bones.

Currently, the only use for the bones in Valheim is to summon the game’s third boss, Bonemass. You’ll need 10 Withered Bones to place at the boss’ altar, which shouldn’t be difficult to obtain.

Defeating Bonemass, we’ve covered how to do so in a previous guide
