The only thing you need to do is head on over to ARK: Survival Evolved's page on Steam and click the "Add to account" button.

Do this before 19th June at 17:00 UTC and the game will be yours to keep and play at your leisure. Miss out, and you will need to pay roughly 10 USD.

The one and only caveat being that all games in the "free to keep" promotions on Steam do not drop Trading Cards. It really isn't a big deal.

ARK: Survival Evolved Fjordur and more DLC free

ARK: Survival Evolved has a tonne of free DLC that players can grab after they've added the game to their Steam library.

This includes the latest DLC, called Fjordur, released with the patch 2.78 update (about 20 GB on PC). The Fjordur DLC was released on 12th June 2022. It features a cold and hostile Norse-inspired archipelago in ARK's newest official community map, with four new creatures for you to collect.

Fjordur contains over 140 square kilometers of new biomes, new challenges, and rewarding discoveries.

So not only can you keep ARK: Survival Evolved for free on Steam and play it as much as you like, but you also get nearly everything the game has on offer, with over five years of content updates.
