After several years of not-so-patiently waiting, fans of the Nintendo Sports franchise will finally be able to enjoy the latest iteration on 29th April 2022. Nintendo Switch Sports features six sports with varying player limits, and Golf coming at a later stage. Those who want to jump in right away might want to know the exact file size for Nintendo Switch Sports to get their download done quickly, and which supported play modes the game will feature.

In this article, we outline the exact file size of Nintendo Switch Sports, as for Switch owners, especially if they don't have an SD Card, file sizes are an important aspect.

If you have some space left on your Switch or Switch Lite, then the download/file size for Nintendo Switch Sports really shouldn't be an issue.

The Nintendo Switch Sports file size is a bit unexpectedly small, only weighing in at 1.5 GB. To be exact, you will have to download 1526 MB from the Nintendo eShop.

Those who go for a physical version will, of course, not have to download anything.

Just like most other games on the Switch, Nintendo Switch Sports features different supported play modes. These modes include:

  • Tabletop mode
  • TV mode

One exclusion from the current Nintendo eShop page for the game is Handheld mode. This is due to the use of the Joy-Con controllers with Nintendo Switch Sports, making it perfect for playing with friends in front of a TV, but not for handheld mode.

So what about the Nintendo Switch Lite then? Well, it appears Nintendo Switch Sports won't work on the Lite.

According to early reports, even with Joy-Cons, those on the Nintendo Switch Lite simply couldn't get into any games while testing Nintendo Switch Sports.

Check out the Nintendo Switch Sports gameplay trailer below, showcasing how the motion controls really put you right in the middle of the action. This could be the reason we don't see a "handheld" mode under the list of supported modes right now.

So there you have it, the file size for Nintendo Switch Sports, and the supported play modes, with some bad news for those on the Nintendo Switch Lite.
