How To Recover Broken Hearts in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Gloom is a new mechanic in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom found in the underground that can reduce your maximum health. When you stand on a gloomy ground or get hit by a gloomed enemy, you will lose one of your hearts. These lost hearts are not the same as regular damage, as they will not regenerate on their own.

In other words, your Health/Hearts will go down and crack when you touch Gloom or its infected foes. This is called Gloom Damage. The worst thing is normal healing won’t work on cracked hearts. So how will you recover broken hearts after being damaged by Gloom in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom? Let's find out.

How To Heal Cracked Hearts Damaged By Gloom In Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

There are three ways to heal broken hearts that have been damaged by Gloom:

Stand under a Lightroot

Lightroots are glowing green lights that are found throughout the Depths. Standing under a Lightroot will instantly restore your lost heart containers.

Fast travel to the Surface

Gloom has no effect on the Surface, so fast traveling to the Surface will also restore your lost heart containers.

Cook a meal with Sundelions

Sundelions are a type of plant that can be found in the underground Depths. Cooking a meal with Sundelions will give the meal the Sunny effect, which will restore your lost heart containers.

It is important to note that Gloom can be a very dangerous mechanic, so it is important to be aware of it and take steps to protect yourself. If you are going to be exploring the Depths, it is a good idea to stock up on Sundelions and Lightroot seeds. You should also try to avoid standing on gloomy ground or getting hit by gloomed enemies.

Meanwhile, follow these tips to avoid Gloom damage:

  • Use the Magnesis rune to lift up gloomy ground and move it out of your way.
  • Use the Cryonis rune to create ice blocks that you can stand on to avoid the gloomy ground.
  • Use the Stasis rune to freeze gloomed enemies, making them easier to avoid.
  • If you do take damage from Gloom, quickly find a Lightroot or fast travel to the Surface to restore your lost heart containers.

And that's everything you need to know in order to help you recover hearts
