Apex Legends Vantage - Abilities, Tips To Win

Every following season, Respawn Entertainment introduces a new character to Apex Legends’ roster. Last season players got to shield up and protect their team using Newcastle, a literal walking force of impenetrability, also known to some as Bangalore’s long, lost brother. As Apex Legends Season 13 draws to an end, Season 14 knocks on its door.

On 24th July 2022, Respawn Entertainment released another storyline cinematic featuring the following upcoming Legend to make their way to the Apex arena, Vantage, also known as ‘Mara. From shield-wielding protectors to Gatling gunnin’ characters turning enemies into swiss cheese, the first sniper-focused Legend is coming to Apex Legends very soon.

Apex Legends Season 14 - Who is Vantage?

Vantage, also known as Xiomara Contreras, was born on the fringe planet of Págos. Her mother, Xenia Contreras, was sentenced to life on the Gaean prison ship, GDS Vantage, but she managed to escape. Xenia raised Xiomara to only know one rule and truth in life: survive and know everything wants to kill her. 

One day, Xiomara found out about the ship. Unbeknownst to what the ship was to Xenia, her mother told Xiomara to stay away from the wrecked ship as there was nothing but cargo and soulless machines in it.

Fast forward, Xiomara’s hunting prey, presumably to eat, and she managed to snipe down and injure a bat. She went to pick up the bat but found herself on top of the wrecked ship. Suddenly, the bat flies over and enters an opening leading inside the GDS Vantage. Xiomara investigated the wreck only to discover her mother’s true identity as an escaped convict. 

Because of the bat, the ship turned on and alerted the machines forcing Xiomara to defend herself. Bleeding and falling in and out of consciousness, her mother finds out Xiomara knows her past and puts a distress signal beacon in her hand, calling Gaean authorities to the rescue.

Apex Legends Season 14 - Leaked Vantage Abilities

Before even debuting the official video detailing her abilities, Vantage’s skills have already been leaked. Vantage is a sniper-focused Legend that boosts allied damage output, scans enemies for information, and deals precise damage through a scoped lens.

She’s one of the more unique characters for Apex Legends players to use, and unlike most Legends, her entire kit focuses on long-range tactics and eyeing out enemies before starting the fight.

Passive - Sniper Kit

Vantage’s passive ability allows the Legend to scan enemies and reveal information such as their names, Shield rarity, team size, and range. Her passive procs once she’s aiming down in ADS unarmed or long-range scopes.

Tactical (Q) - Echo Launch

Her Tactical skill launches a winged companion called Echo toward a chosen position using her trusty whistle. Vantage can order Echo to move anywhere by tapping Q. But Vantage can launch and fly toward Echo if she holds down Q, to which she can double jump once the character’s arrived.

Ultimate (Z) - Mark To Kill 

Vantage’s Ultimate ability provides her with a custom sniper rifle that can scan enemies and boost damage for Vantage and her squad. Damage doubles for Vantage on successive shots, and her team gets an added fifteen percent damage amplification boost on scanned targets.

Apex Legends Vantage Guide - Tips To Win

At a glance, Vantage’s ability kit seems to work well with many hyper-aggressive compositions as she can eye down enemies from afar and provide the perfect advantage for her squad to rush in. Some ideal Legends to pair Vantage with would be Revenant, Valkyrie, Wraith, Octane, Bloodhound, Bangalore, and Ash. 

Vantage’s abilities are all subject to change to a significant or slight degree upon official release. The leaked information doesn’t always reflect the entirety of the Legend, so be wary as Respawn Entertainment might change Vantage’s kit up a little more than most Apex Legends players expected.
