Cyberpunk 2077: Everything About Relationships, Romance, & Sex

Life in the world of Cyberpunk 2077 can be quite stressful, full of gangs, drugs, violence, and a constant struggle to survive.

In order to overcome these challenges, you will need to create a network of friends and associates, to find your place in Night City and have someone who will always be there to have your back and offer you help when needed.

And, of course, you will sometimes need to forget about all the problems surrounding you and simply relax and be close to someone, be it friendship, romance, or just sex.

And in Cyberpunk 2077 there will be a lot of opportunities to create meaningful relationships with people, there will be a lot of characters with whom you can become a friend or even something more if things go into the right direction.

Relationships in Cyberpunk 2077

Cyberpunk 2077 is first and foremost a role-playing game, which means that the relationships and connections will be both meaningful and have the potential to have a lasting impact on the story. Building relationships, romantic or otherwise, will open up new quest paths and reveal more of the story and the world of Night City.

The bond between V (the player's character) and various other people you'll meet through the game will become stronger the more time you spend time with them and the more you help them.

Like with many other RPG games where you have different kinds of approaches and dialogue options in conversations, the game will acknowledge and keep track of your decisions.

Weigh your words carefully, because some wrong choices can lock the door forever. In order to unlock some unique parts of the game available only through specific characters, you will need to treat them in a way that will deem you trustworthy enough.

Once you are on that level of relationship with someone in the game, they will be more open two you, tell you some secrets, give you special quests and open other options of interactions with them.

On the other hand, some choices will not be that impactful and will often lead to the same conclusion with some slight variations, but you will need to understand and estimate when it's important what will you say, and when not so.

If you don't pay attention to some characters or actively go out your way to make them dislike you, you run the risk of missing out on side quests or other tangible benefits that forging a relationship with them could present to you.

Communication with other characters in the game works mostly through your mobile phone, that's usually the starting point.

Various characters will contact you to meet with them, or do something for them. These will all be side quests which you can choose to accept or simply ignore, ultimately the more attention you give to certain characters, the friendlier they will become. Sometimes, they will text you simply for a chat, which is a good sign since it means your relationship with that character is on a good footing.

Each relationship with the game's major characters represents a separate story arc which will develop the more you spend time with them.

Relationship with Johnny Silverhand

There are a lot of characters in the game, but undoubtedly the most important one is Keanu Reeves' Johnny Silverhand, a rocker rebel who will accompany you wherever you go.

In the game, he is literally a part of you, inside your head in a microchip, and he will be seen and heard only by you.

Throughout the game, he will pop out in various situations. Sometimes he will just be there around you while you are doing something, sometimes he will make comments on situations, and sometimes his thoughts or ideas will even be presented as a dialogue option to you when you are speaking to another person.

Your relationship with Johnny Silverhand will be the most important for the game, and it will develop through your actions and decisions, as well as with direct conversations with him.

In the beginning, he starts as a pseudo-antagonist, because he wants to take over your body (the chip is designed to do that), but throughout the game, your relationship with him will change, especially if you treat him well and start understanding his goals, which are mostly noble-minded, if not a tad bit radical.

While he will not always be visually there, he will have a huge influence on you and will often want from you to do or not do something, change your location and go somewhere else, or maybe just stop somewhere when you are randomly driving through Night City.

He will also be helpful with the information he knows and his general experience, and will often give you some good advice or idea, and it will be on you if you want to take that advice or not.

Despite being in your head, he is a completely independent person, with his goals and ways of doing this, and both of you will need to cooperate if you want to make progress.

How to have sex in Cyberpunk 2077?

The world of Cyberpunk 2077 is full of sex and sexualisation.

Sex is everywhere in Night City, from sex workers over on Jig Jig Street (Cyberpunk's red-light district) to omnipresent sexualisations and objectification, because cyberpunk is a dystopian world of merciless capitalism, and sex sells.

In Cyberpunk 2077, the player is able to romance a number of characters available in Night City.

Some romances are only available through a certain Lifepath chosen at the beginning of a game because some of the characters you will get to know only through that lifepath.

Some characters will be available for either male or female V, while others will not care and you will be able to have sex with them no matter what gender you are.

For now, it is confirmed that Meredith Stout will be open for romance with male Corpo V, and Judy Alvarez will show interest in female V.

While it is confirmed that Jackie Welles, V's partner at the start of the game, will also be available as a romance option, it is not yet revealed if he will be interested in male or female V.

But you don't need to have relationships with characters in order to have sex with them.

If it's just sex that you want, the game is full of sex workers on the street that will offer their services to you, for a price, of course. You will be able to simply pay them, and bring them to Watson Apartment (your safe house) for sex.

There will be several other characters that will also be available just for one night stands, but it is not yet confirmed who that characters are.

Sex will mostly be in the game just for the sake of world-building and making the world feel more alive and real, and it will not have any gameplay implications. On the other hand, building a romantic relationship with characters will have an influence on how the story progresses and will unlock some interesting new side quests and options not available otherwise.
