UPDATE: Bungie issued a hotfix that shuts down this exploit, read more about it here.

Destiny and exploits have been synonymous ever since the release of Bungie's shooter back in 2014, with players looking for every advantage they can get to reach a higher power level or get their hands on some incredible loot.

With the release of Destiny 2 Beyond Light, the expansion that kicks off Year 4, hardcore grinders have found a way to reach the new power level soft cap in less than an hour.

So, let's have a look at how this exploit works.

How to reach soft cap fast in Destiny 2 Beyond Light

First, a quick refresher on the new power level caps. After all players were bumped to 1050 for the start of Year 4, these are the new PL numbers to keep your eyes on:

  • Soft cap: 1200 PL: Regular drops will continue to level up to this point.
  • Hard cap: 1250 PL: After you reach 1200PL, you’ll need to do playlist and weekly activities via the director for powerful engrams.
  • Pinnacle cap: 1260 PL: From 1250 PL, you can only reach this point by completing activities that reward pinnacle drops.

For a fast way to get your Power Level to the soft cap, you must head out to the Widow's Walk Lost Sector in the EDZ. Here's where you can find it.

Once there, simply kill the boss and collect the engram it'll drop, which will boast a power level considerably higher than your current one.

Once done, head out to the Landing Zone and respawn in the area to reset the Lost Sector. Rinse and repeat until you reach the 1200 soft cap.

This Lost Sector is recommended as it's super short and can be completed in mere seconds, on top of having a Landing Zone near it to reset it effectively.
