Elden Ring is filled with many enemies and bosses of every difficulty for players to test their might, combat expertise, and equipment strength. Some of these enemies and bosses are pretty hard to locate, which takes some investigative work to sniff them out.
One boss, in particular, is an optional battle; however, it does place you at the end of the map and carefully traversing across floating platforms to find it. This guide explains how to find and defeat the Dragonlord Placidusax boss in Elden Ring.
Where to find Dragonlord Placidusax in Elden Ring?
The Dragonlord Placidusax is an optional boss that players can encounter at Crumbling Farum Azula. This boss can be found at the lower entrance to the Crumbling Farum Azula, where you can travel to the Beside the Great Bridge Site of Grace to get there faster.
From the Site of Grace, make a quick turnaround and take the lift going down into a church. Be careful when crossing through the church, as there are a few enemies, the Azula Beastmen, lurking around.

Head right from the Azula Beastmen enemies and then a quick left to exit the church building. Look for the tree with a lit brazier and look over the edge for a platform before dropping down.
Keep making your way down by following the path and jumping onto various platforms until you've reached a shallow grave with no remains present in the grave. This will prompt you to "Lie down", in which a cutscene will play and reveal the boss, the Dragonlord Placidusax.
How to beat Dragonlord Placidusax in Elden Ring?
The boss battle with Dragonlord Placidusax is one of the most visually stunning fights, alongside the Ancestor Spirit boss. This boss's only weakness is Physical Thrust DMG, so equipping weapons dealing this damage will aid you in this battle.
This boss' attacks are relatively fast and deal plenty of damage, so changing your flask allocations may come in handy should you wish to survive the battle. Additionally, you can summons Spirit Ashes during this battle, and multiplayer is enabled as such.
It does have a few unique battle mechanics that make it vastly different from other boss battles you may have encountered. Like all dragons in Elden Ring, its weakest point is on its head; however, it won't provide you with many opportunities to target it.
The best area of attack is around its tail, behind the wings and around the hind legs. Due to this, you will position yourself in a safe spot where you can avoid its wing and tail swipe attacks.
Interestingly, this boss doesn't have any back attacks, so you can target its hind legs without worrying about the boss kicking you. It has some ranged attacks, so it's best to keep this a close-quarters battle as it can summon lightning bolts with the AoE.
However, the next wave of lightning bolts will occur within a distance, which you'll need to avoid getting hit but will give you the chance to launch a few strikes in between. Keep evading the lightning bolt attacks until it ends, giving you time to prepare for the next set of attacks.
As mentioned earlier, the Dragonlord Placidusax also has a swiping attack which can be avoided by dodging them in the opposite direction. If he uses his left hand, the swiping action will be horizontal and vertical if he uses the right hand, which causes a lighting AoE explosion.
There is also a fire attack the Dragonlord Placidusax has, the Dragonfire, which launches an attack of golden embers, which can be avoided by keeping some distance between you and the boss. The range of these attacks is relatively short; however, you need to wait for the flames to burn out before attacking it.
Once its HP reaches 50%, it will ascend and disappear momentarily for a phase change before reappearing for a diving attack. You'll need to reposition your camera to look out for the boss or suffer massive damage.
The real boss battle begins during the second phase as it will use a few attacks while teleporting throughout the battle. Avoid getting hit by its lightning claw attack will create an opening to land a few attacks before it teleports once again.
It would be best to close the gap between yourself and the boss as its following attacks will likely miss you. Locking onto the boss will help during the second half of this battle, especially as it constantly teleports, making it easy to keep track of it.
Keep an eye out for the Placidusax's Ruin attack by getting out of range to avoid this fire laser from dealing an insane amount of damage. Follow this strategy and should be able to bring down this boss with some patience and luck.
Once defeated, the Dragonlord Placidusax drops 280,000 Runes and the Remembrance of the Dragonlord. This, in turn, can be exchanged when visiting Enia, Finger Reader, at the Roundtable Hold.
