Dragons are present in every Dark Souls game, and Elden Ring is no different. While Dragon encounters have been both a challenging and rewarding experience in the previous FromSoftware titles, Elden Ring adds a new incentive to these enthralling encounters.
In Elden Ring, you can gain Dragon abilities in the form of incantations. These are some of the most powerful incantations that can turn the tide of a battle, though as expected, they are hard to acquire. Here's how you can get Dragon abilities in Elden Ring.
Dragon Abilities in Elden Ring - How to get
The Flying Dragon Agheel is the first Dragon you may encounter in Elden Ring while exploring the Dragon-Burnt Ruins. Taking it down will reward you with a Dragon Heart, a rare resource and currency, which you will need to acquire Dragon abilities in the game.
For this, you have to find the Cathedral of Dragon Communion, which is in the Caelid region of the game. You can reach Caelid through a treasure chest in the Dragon-Burnt Ruins, which will teleport you to Sellia Crystal Tunnel.
The Cathedral of Dragon Communion lies South-West of Sellia Crystal Tunnel. On the way, you will come across the Streets of Sage Ruins and Caelid Waypoint Ruins, where you can get the Meteorite Staff and Meteoric Ore Katana, respectively.

Right before the Catherdral of Dragon Communion, you will come across another Dragon called Decaying Ekzykes. You can skip this battle for the time being and venture straight up to find the Cathedral.
Two high-level knights patrol this area and can cause havoc with Dragonfire, one of the Dragon Powers you can acquire, so make sure to sneak past them and reach the grace at the Catherdral of Dragon Communion.
From here, you have to find and examine the altar to check out all the Dragon powers you can purchase. We recommend buying the Dragonfire one first, as it's a crowd control incantation that would come especially handy while exploring legacy dungeons like the Academy of Raya Lucaria.
